it's really useful to discover new music. i've found a lot of really good records by browsing the charts and lists other people have created. the automated recommendations also point you in the direction of some cool music i otherwise wouldn't have found.

It's my go to for looking up artists. It's particularly good for finding starting places for huge discographies and for corroborating dates. The social features of the site are known for causing brain tumors, though, so I'd stay away from those.
