Is anyone selling affordable clones of the 218 and the 208?
Buchla is lovely, but being poor I simply can't afford "official" hardware. I've also heard that the build quality of the official stuff's not very good anymore.
I hoped you'd take my attention away from my 13k dollar dream synth but you posted my 13k dollar dream synth
I just want a sub phatty so bad, bros.
Probably buying this next month
>be me
>fuck around with DAWs for years
>get a SP-404 with my stimulus
>post a picture of it on facebook and instagram
>guy I used to work with years ago messages me on facebook and asks if I'd do a live show for his brother in law's venue
>[tom delong wtf.gif]
>tell him I'm not that experienced
>he says I'd be fine and asks for a link to my soundcloud
>he finds the link himself because it's on my profile from a post I made 3 years ago
>he still encourages me to accept the offer
how do I trigger soundcloud's play button from the SP-404
For me, it’s Buchla
cant you just put whole songs as a sample there and trigger a song with one push of a button?
So what is /synth/ making music with this morning? Bit of the ol Mannequins, personally
Im suequencing a primitive one osc bass patch of Body Language on my modular all day. I have cases of real man 5U stuff but mostly i only use 2 VCOs, a filter and an ADSR.
new to synths... if i get something 'cheap' what kind of cables/boxes do i need to play it? i assume power adapters are included, but do i need to also buy anything?
plz no bully
sounds fun, gonna spend your trumpbux on anything synthy? I’ve wanted a wmd performance mixer forever and might grab one, have a 20% coupon too.
No trumpbux here, i have not even took a day off from work since january.
I am thinking about bulding a Serge Extended ADSR after having built a DUSG/VCS but i have not really used the latter so i am not sure if i really need that module.
I would love a Serge ADSR, batches did a good demo of its quirks

The Mini Nova doesn't have a built in speaker, so you'd need to get a synth amp and instrument cable with it. Some synths do have built in speakers, in which case you'd be set, but with ones that don't, the most you'd really need would be an amp and cable
That's not the Yamaha CS 80
you sunk my battleship!
What do you think of Erica Synths new “inspired” syntrx. Looks pretty good.

Thanks for the reply. I've got a bass amp and many guitar cables. Am I good to go?
Some synths have a headphone jack too, reading the manual will usually show you examples of how to hook up said synth different ways. but yes, a bass amp will do fine too.
Honest question: What makes a physical synth better than a midi keyboard + virtual synth?
Actual noob here, they seem the same to me but there has to be a difference right?
Underrated
Is that price for real or is it a joke?
Based
It's basically the difference between real hardware vs plugin. The purists would always prefer the real hw instead of a vst even if they sound almost identical and you can't tell them apart. Unless you play live you'd better stick with vsts. The only real advantage of having the actual hw in front of you is having the ability to actually touch the knobs and shit instead of using a mouse.
stop being poor
You could always buy the real thing...

i would like to make synth/music gear more accessible for poorfags such as myself
it's a long road ahead but it's something i want to believe in
I want a sub phatty so bad bros
I like to be able to touch something real and just turn it on and be able to explore for ideas and space out. without messing with a computer that's gives a styrofoam feel.. They aren't the same. Soft synths don't deliver the sound to trained ears. There's good softsynths it's not dismissing them. Virtual tools are valid. It's just different tho.
