The older I get the more I realize he was right about The Beatles. Overrated manufactured boy band with all the "dude greatest band ever" hype generated by marketing. Many better, more innovative bands during their times, let alone all times.

that's nice dear

there are better bands in general, but can you name a better pop band?

Foreigner

It isn't even that the Beatles are not a good band. They are great and did a lot of innovative shit. But saying they are the best is like saying Harry Potter is the best book of all time.

not a band but frank sinatra

The Doors are better, but I don't know if you'd consider them a pop band. My grandma told me they played their songs at prom, so maybe. If being good disqualifies a band from being pop, maybe the Beatle's are the best.

that's sooooo amazing user, where would you be without him? aren't you glad you had such a smart man to think for you

the velvets are basically pop. i mean their guy andy was the pop art soup man after all

The Beatles suck. But hearing that shit from a fucking Doors fan makes me like The Beatles out of sheer contempt

Never really understood what makes people take Scaruffi's opinion so seriously. He's barely a musician; he just writes (badly) as a side hobby. His autistic rant about the Beatles is riddle with factual inaccuracies and suggests that he never really listened seriously to them.

You cannot name a better album than Magical Mystery Tour.

For fuck’s sake user, Fool On a Hill, Blue Jay Way, Strawberry Fields Forever.

hating on beatles is babby's first contrarian

fuck no
this is actually a respectable choice desu. i like you
i would count these as pop but would also say they're vastly inferior to the beatles.
for one thing, they're almost essentially one album wonders. most people almost unanimously agree that their best albums are their debuts. there's much more variation in one's favorite beatles album because they have many albums of almost equal quality in many different styles and subgenres.
the songwriting isn't as good either, especially the songwriting of the doors. reed is a great lyricist but his attempts at pop songs don't stand well against the beatles. the beatles are hook after hook after hook, so many of their songs are catchy and memorable. reed probably has like five *pop* songs of the same level of quality as the beatles. the doors have none on that same level.
desu i've never been as big of a fan of their psychedelic output as their non-psychedelic output. i agree that this is their best psychedelic album though.

You have shit taste in music if you don’t think MMT is a landmark in songwriting.
I’m not talking about lyrics, the chords and formal structures are so fucking beyond the rest of rock music it’s ridiculous.

Anyone who takes music advice from a gay know nothing fucking guido should get the rope

This is absolutely wrong. You are probably still a child

this.
no one was as innovative or still enjoyable as they were and are

don

stupid orange wop motherfucker

its sad that scruffy = beatles bad. the truth is they are kind of irrelevant and have been for years but boomer nostalgia has kept them artificially alive way past the expiry date. nu-woke zoomers will revise their legacy in our lifetime and it will be called wifebeatgate

>the truth is they are kind of irrelevant and have been for years
They've been saying that for 40 years ya dummy

>The older I get the more I realize he was right about The Beatles.
There were literal errors, omissions and contradictions in his Beatles essay
>Overrated manufactured boy band
They could not have been, since they formed six years before they became famous and toured by themselves.
>Many better, more innovative bands during their times, let alone all times.
Innovation isn't relevant.

>the songwriting isn't as good either, especially the songwriting of the doors. reed is a great lyricist but his attempts at pop songs don't stand well against the beatles. the beatles are hook after hook after hook, so many of their songs are catchy and memorable

I think there is a disconnect here. If you are judging them as a pop band, then yes, the beatles are better. But if you look at the best few songs each band put out, VU and the Doors blow the beatles out of the water in almost every way. How far does having catchy hooks really go?

That said, I do like the beatles a lot.

The Beach Boys

i said i liked it the best of their psychedelic stuff already. i'm just more likely personally to listen to say rubber soul
>But if you look at the best few songs each band put out, VU and the Doors blow the beatles out of the water in almost every way.
how so?
definitely not, that's one of the most overrated meme bands i can think of

projecting

at 16, it felt like an epic meme copypaste
at 24, it feels like one of the most important essays in music criticism history

>manufactured boyband
Ya, because the Beatles didn't play their instruments nor write their own songs

>the chords and formal structures are so fucking beyond the rest of rock music it’s ridiculous.
hahahahahahaha no.

Prove me wrong retard. Show me a song in a diminished mode like Blue Jay Way
