This album is shit

It's boring. They're just noodling around with these soft electronics and pianos.
It's too short, why the fuck didn't they put Supercollider and Staircase on there when those songs would fit perfectly? (And they're better than several actual album tracks)
It feels like an EP that they knocked together in a few weeks, not a full album that took them 4 years to make.
The only redeemable song on here is Bloom. Lotus Flower is catchy I guess but it's only a failed attempt at making an electronic pop hit.

TKOL is a bad album. And I say that as someone who loves Radiohead and believes they have several 10/10s.

Oh and, before you come at me with the "durrrr pleb filtered, 2 experimental 4 u", my favourite Radiohead album is Amnesiac and my number two is Kid A. TKOL is not an experimental album, the band does not go to any really weird or outlandish places with their sound, they just made boring low energy songs. Actual experimental Radiohead is songs like The Amazing Sounds of Orgy, Trans-Atlantic Drawl, In Limbo, or Dollars & Cents, songs that conjure up dark and uncomfortable images. TKOL does nothing of the sort.

Guys I found another filtered pleb on the board

This but with their entire discography

>experimental means weird!
Yikes

I also don't like TKOL. I have grown to like some of the songs with time.
It's still better than Pablo Honey tho.

>favourite radiohead album amnesiac followed by kid A
a rare case on this board of someone not being a pleb and being correct, unfortunately encased in a post about them being filtered

Supercollider and The Butcher I agree with you, but I don't think Staircase was even finished and rehearsed with Radiohead by the time the album came out, it was a Thom demo that only made progress when they were prepping for Live from the Basement.

How can a favorite be correct or not?

What's the point in being "experimental" if your "experimentation" just leads you to make boring noodly piano shit that ends up on Spotify's sleep playlists? Radiohead have potential to make some really groundbreaking songs but they've never again captured that sound of anxiety and fear that they did on Amnesiac and Kid A. At least on In Rainbows and AMSP they're making great pop music though. TKOL just fails at its mission statement, making it an immeasurably worse album than any other in the discography.

Yes, I agree with you on The Butcher, forgot about that one.

Add Supercollider and The Butcher to the album, it would be 10 tracks (a normal album length, rather than EP length) and it would be a noticeably more interesting and enjoyable album. The Butcher is one of the few post-2001 tracks they've made which veers towards the Kid A/Amnesiac direction.

because amnesiac is their best album followed by kid A, if you do not think this you are wrong, if you think this you are correct

How can an opinion be wrong? It's subjective

it’s not subjective I am right

It's their weakest album.

Bloom is their best song.

>TKOL just fails at its mission statement,
What was that?

How so?

i could see this with the first half of the album (i love tkol, just can see why someone would see it this way) but the second half from lotus flower to separator is brilliant, codex, give up the ghost, and separator are some of the most gorgeous and moving works in their discography

It's actually pretty great, they focus more on rythm instead of melody while keeping a really organic sound going and make it work more often than not, plenty of great tracks in there. I'm afraid you got filtered.

AMSP is objectively their best plen

I can smell the reddit

Not an argument. Try again

Sure but Lotus Flower is on radiohead's top 5

spbp

>favourite radiohead album amnesiac followed by kid A
>don't mention In Rainbows as her favourite
>don't like TKOL
Filtered pleb.

I agree with you OP but when I was a giant retardhead fan I thought this album was perfect.
fans will listen to anything and its ultimately what they make of an album.

I myself love sequential circuits and moog synthesizers so this album is a treat for me.
If you're a fan of boards of canada and general iconic synth sounds this album is just another fun listening experience but its pretty weak in terms of songwriting. Compared to the juicy colorful pop themes on in rainbows it doesnt really have much to offer but I feel like this is was the album is. Its a mossy and humid collection synths and percussion.

They were probably burned out after In Rainbows. I'd say it was their last truly great album.

Little by Little and Separator are both based

In Redditbows is Coldplay-tier schlock

Correct.

A Moon Shaped Pool was great though.

>Oh and, before you come at me with the "durrrr pleb filtered, 2 experimental 4 u", my favourite Radiohead album is Amnesiac and my number two is Kid A.
filtered, hurr durr
