I don't like his faggy voice.
corny white man music. yuck
I really like his faggy voice
Just admit you're under 18
I like him a lot
He's alright, nothing special.
He’s great! Very special! Only listen to his output pre 1987 though. Am I missing anything after?
why are these retarded zoomers the first to comment on every post.
neil is a pure soul.
Uh yeah i’ll say you’re missing out big time.
really though you haven’t listened to Harvest Moon?
i haven't listened to very much from him, only after the gold rush and some random songs like cinammon girl and old man. what do you guys recommend?
Harvest is a solid start
Then On the Beach, Zuma, tonight’s the night
how would you rank his albums?
Neil Young
Harvest
On the Beach
Tonight’s the Night
Zuma
Rust Never Sleeps
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Harvest Moon
these are my favourite albums from old man young
Neils got a shitload of a backlog and I’m not the biggest fan but for its
After The Goldrush
On The Beach
Harvest
Harvest Moon
Zuma
Tonight’s the Night
I wouldn’t say he was a “best” album but there are great songs you can find scattered in all albums
fuck yeah dude. i think he legitimately might be the GOAT. i mean who else has such a large, consistent discography? even when he tried going for a garage rock sort of sound it's completely authentic and enjoyable. I would put townes van zandt up there but i gotta give it to my boy neil since he did more original stuff as opposed to covers (and townes van zandt's studio shit was overproduced to hell and back). no disrespect at all the townes tho
no one here likes ragged glory?
townes is the better songwriter but neil has better albums and a better overall discography
it depends, are you a country rock or folk sorta guy? if country rock try everybody knows this is nowhere and zuma. both are solid 9/10 albums. if you like folk try after the gold rush or harvest. at the end of the day you can't really go wrong and can branch out from there
I only have digs for on the beach, what's similar in his discography?
satanic trips confirms it but i think i would also agree. i also don't know if i've been affected as much by individual neil young songs like i have been by townes van zandt, he can send shivers down my spine
that's exactly what i'm saying, it's an overlooked album for sure.
that's a tricky one. songs like ambulance blues sound more folksy and like his shit on after the gold rush. but songs like on the beach and walk on aren't really repeated sounds of his (beach rock sort of feel). I guess i'd suggest you check out after the gold rush as it's got some catchy hooks and stuff while having that folk nature to the album. but in short he doesn't really have another album exactly like it
Fuck yeah. Honestly, anything Neil + Crazy Horse usually kicks ass. My dad saw them play in 1991 while he was in the army.
Also just to add to the discussion here, my favorite NY albums are Zuma and On the Beach.
I like Townes a lot but I don’t think he ever reached the heights of 1974-75 Neil Young. It’s also worth noting that the longevity of Neils career outweighs Townes for obvious reasons. I respect your take though
fuck yeah dude. don't cry no tears is such a fucking great start to zuma and really sets the stage for a great album. what did your old man say about the show he saw? any good?
Dead Man soundtrack is killer if you want something else from neil. Rust Never Sleeps is also pretty awesome
DONT LET IT BRING YOU DOWN
ITS ONLY CASTLES BURNING
FIND SOMEONE WHOS TURNING
AND YOU WILL CUM AROUND
He's amazing. One of the greatest to ever do it. Too many good albums to list. Even the less good ones have good tracks. His album last year was good too so it's not like he's done.
This
My dads not really much of a music fan in general, but I think he enjoyed it. I think he just went because his buddy had a ticket. He said the strangest part of the show was that Neil & Crazy were opening for Suicidal Tendencies of all bands. Apparently 90% of the Neil Young crowd left before Suicidal Tendencies began their set. Go figure
Don’t Cry No Tears is such a good feeling opener. My favorites are Barstool Blues, Danger Bird, Cortez, & Through my Sails. But honestly the whole album is 10/10 for me.
>My dads not really much of a music fan in general, but I think he enjoyed it
i know exactly what you're talking about. my dad saw pink floyd during their animals tour and never talks much about it even when i press for details. i think he enjoyed it enough but man, i would've killed to get an experience like that. funny to think about suicidal tendies and NY, odd lineup.
but yeah, fantastic album. anyone who loves everybody knows this is nowhere or zuma is alright by me.
based line-up
A Man Needs a Maid.
one of the GOATs easily
Harvest Moon
