ITT: Perfect albums
to be more specific, what is a perfect album to you? What can you personally listen to from start to finish. My picks are probably shit, but curious to see what you guys choose.

>HEY LITTLE BOY, WHAT YOU GOT THERE?
Not even a house guy, but every track is worth sitting through
the malaise of Class, the ecstasy of Synkro, and the catharsis of Tessio. This album never gets old, in fact, the atmosphere only becomes more intoxicating upon revisits.
>Kind sir it's a mollusk i've found
Based as fuck user. Just picked up the vinyl version
Did you find it in the sandy ground?
Oh shit, nice. I have it on CD, but been meaning to pick up the vinyl release as well.
Yes, I found it on the ground.
>Does it emulate the ocean sound?
It probably doesn't help that every track is 1 minute, but shit is powerful
Bring forth the mollusk cast unto thee
I like gbv too :)
(My apologies for the inclusion of thrash in this list here)
Sabire - Gates Ajar: an Aussie band, they call themselves “Acid Metal” or some shit, but their previously mentioned release was a fantastic ride all the way through, although slightly less energetic on the tail end. It has some sexual themes, but explores them well without becoming awkward.
Thantifaxath - Sacred White Noise: some of Canada’s best BM, unrelenting in every way, but at the same time they maintain complex songwriting and production that keeps instruments distinct instead of making a compressed block of sound. Vocals also maintain a human tone, which brings the music closer to home than other bands ever could (a bit like Weakling, except much more lofi).
Black Curse - Endless Wound: the best sound of any Death Metal record in ages. They nailed the sound of every instrument on this album, and they let them all put in their own nuanced and creative bit to make this album weigh 1000 tonnes all the way through. Heaviest blackened Death Metal for ages.
Panopticon - Roads to the North: Best Atmospheric Folk Metal record of all time. Listen to it yourself. That this was a one man project is unbelievable. About 15 minutes of Blackened Folk Metal for every 5 of Bluegrass, and elements fade together between tracks. Nailed the blend, Austin.
Kwade Droes - Onder de Toren: Listen to it yourself. It might not be outstandingly technical, but it sounds like the solitary confinement block of an 1890s mental asylum. No explaining the sound of this one.
>Thantifaxath
>Some of Canada's best BM
not by a long shot user
Hey, well, educate me, I’d be glad.
I too am curious. Appreciate you putting these up, user. I'll check these out tonight
Every track is gold
At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command
Anytime.
Based ween posters unite. Here's another for your trouble.
He did a great job on this
Foulest Semen of a Sheltered Elite by Ruins of Beverast, Rain Apon the Impure would have been here too if the sound engineer hadn’t fucked it over.
Not to disparage Thantifaxath too much. They're not my thing but if you like them that's alright. Here are my favourite Canadian BM bands

Overall nothing too obscure, but I've never been a fan of Thantifaxath myself. The production has always been too clean, and I found the riffs to be lacking.
Every single track is an 8/10 or higher. Fucking killer record.
Based and brownpilled
Fair enough, the songwriting could get better, and almost a decade after their first EP, it should be better. I like the production, though, because it keeps the different instruments distinct, and along with the time signature changes it keeps you on edge.
I understand your point about the production keeping the instruments distinct. I think it comes down to different approaches to black metal. Personally, I prefer it when the production causes the instruments to blend together into one block of sound.
Thoughts??? I love this album, wonder what you guys think.
Yeah, that’s a fair point. It comes down to wether you prefer to soak up the atmosphere or cherrypick the nuances. Cheers for the reccomendations, too, each one now has a spot on the playlist.
