false nostalgia
>aeroplane
>the prodigy
not even good

i wasn’t even born in 90s but i completely agree.
but prodigy is based af

alright, we'll meet in the middle and agree that Aeroplane is a shit song

pretty much every metric for a successful society has improved since the 90s. literacy rates, quality of life, general happiness (inb4 some faggot teenager posts le doomer maymay), infant mortality rate. the list goes on and on. you were probably a baby or not even born in the 90s. shit wasnt that great

suicide rates have gone up by something like 30% in the last 20 years

Most music I listen to didn't even exist 10 years ago

i’m not a fan of rhcp, i liked only their first album so yeah, i agree.

The mid-90s were great if you were young, American/Western European and either so rich or so extremely poor that you didn't give a shit. If you weren't any of those things you were up shit creek.
The pop culture was certainly much more exciting than it is now though. Oasis, Kurt Cobain's suicide and death cult, the Marilyn Manson/Sneaker Pimps feud, Trainspotting, Larry Clark, Gregg Araki... those were the days.

>retarded teenager makes up shit that can be fact checked with a 5 second google search
sorry were not living in the apocalypse like you want bro

such posts always make me hate my life even more because i’m a fucking zoomer and everything seems so boring and artificial now, especially compared with 90s.

>Oasis
>The Prodigy
>possibly one of RHCP's worst hits

In the US.

>boring and artificial
what the 90s pretended not to be

who cares about america? its a literal 3rd world shithole filled with subhumans

this is one of the most retarded threads ive ever seen. what the fuck is wrong with gayic-fags seriously?

at least tried.

It was pretty interesting. Mainstream culture was so decadent and fucked up, and fringe culture somehow seemed more accessible then than it is now, despite the Internet and the accessibility of everything from audio rips to general information. You'd see MTV news reports on John Frusciante's heroin addiction, or you'd buy a copy of Spin and read an interview with Thurston Moore where he'd go on and on about Mayhem or Incapacitants, or you'd read about Steven Drozd being a junkie in some terribly formatted xeroxed fanzine and it somehow felt more meaningful than it is now, even though in the 90s it would have been a months-long ordeal to get a fucking bootleg cassette copy of Smile From The Streets You Hold or a Brighter Death Now CD.

I only revisit the 90s for gabba and Mr. Bungle.

people are too quick to act on false nostalgia

zoomers are nostalgic about filthy frank and that was only a few years back
they will soon realise that he wasn't even that good,

same with the people who are still nostalgic about little peep and the people who are newly nostalgic for Kurt Cobain despite not being born in the 90s

>no bjork

in fact i understand that now i’m so “lucky” to live in the age of technologies and all this stuff that i hear every day but i just don’t really care. i would choose living then because everything seemed so much easier then, and so much more interesting. like not so pretentious, not so false. i know i sound just like le wrong generation kid but in fact that’s really how i feel.
btw, i love brighter death now.

>le born in le wrong generation
>shit examples in music

lul

you sound like a queer

i’m asexual, so it’s true

It took much more effort to get involved in the things which attracted you back then, but the rewards were much greater. The excitement of writing a letter to Born Against or Integrity, then spending months wondering whether the bands even received them, then receiving a parcel with a fucking hand-written letter and a new CD was insane. It was enough to keep you going for months. Or finally getting to see Nine Inch Nails or Jane's Addiction live after years of fantasizing about it, getting your friend who didn't give a shit about the bands to drive you to the venue since he actually had a car... shit. Things are too easy nowadays.

and logically i understand that it’s all very convenient now, you can just listen to music from your phone for free and don’t give a fuck, but i can’t even imagine how does it feel to finally receive a letter(as you said) or to see a band live. and now you can get everything really easy but it doesn’t bring you such enjoyment. and i just hate the fact that i’ll never feel anything like this. it’s stupid that i miss the time where i never lived but i can’t manage with it.

why's this guy dressed up like lil peep?

Psh. Hahaha.

Grunge and alternative was built on a complete lie. It wasn't a pinnacle, it was the very thing that showed what a farce punk and Marxoid values were.

>those were the days.
I can't believe people actually say this shit. Do you really want to be that guy? And people literally say this about every era. How do they not realize this?

I was young in the 90s and they fucking SUCKED.

It was all worth it back then. The anxiety, the perpetual hangovers, all the money spent, all the contacts you had to make just to get a couple of fanzines and bootleg tapes, all the tedious social navigation you had to go through to get from point A to point B, the mean looks and threats of firing from your employer, the sleep deprivation. Nowadays you order shit from Bandcamp or Bigcartel or Ticketmaster and move in with your day. There's no thrill to the chase anymore.

Hallowen 1997. Never forget.

I lived it, man. I was in the shit with the grunts.

>social media completely took over and poisoned everyone's mind

let's see...in the 90s we were referred to as "predator youth" even if we voted for them

then when we rejected them in 2016 they referred to us survivors as "deplorables"
elitists are the problem not technology
they way they use the technology is
what leads to the devaluation of human life
they even lead the charge in demeaning
freedom and liberties while they exalt their own
liberties as sacrosanct

he's not dumbass thaats lanye from alice in chains

>I lived it
lived what? going to a fucking nirvana gig and being disappointing?

I saw Nirvana in '93 and despite a lot of people complaining about Cobain phoning it in or being too strung out to care by that point, I thought they were fucking fantastic. If that show was Cobain on autopilot, he really was the greatest rockstar of the 90s. And I mean, I saw a bunch of other cool shit in the 90s. I saw Neil Hagerty throw up on himself. I saw Robert Smith break down and start crying onstage. I saw Liam Gallagher walk offstage after 4 songs. Great memories.

i just feel “not right” because i want to like..struggle for something, just to have a purpose but it all doesn’t matter nowadays. none of my classmates care about politics or music or films, they just follow the pop-culture, but all the pop culture now completely sucks. and first time i really didn’t believe that it wasn’t like this all the time.
i saw “american history x” recently(i’m not from the usa, so i don’t know if it’s a very famous film there, but it’s just not very popular here) and i was really surprised, because if it’s true, then what happened with everybody nowadays?
