Hey I did the same thing a couple hours before the album dropped in the US, rating was around ~4.40 at the time (I think 4.42 when I screencapped but it rose and fell a bit in the span of an hour).

People have done this with a lot of albums and they always embarrass themselves because it's hardly any different if at all.

My personal belief is that the RYM staff over-weighted recent releases for some reason. Beforehand an album with that high of a score would land in the top 1000 give or take a couple of places and would have to wait a couple of years to move up the chart. Now thanks to the change in weight that we can't ever find out, Fiona Apple's most recent release is now on the same level as Aphex Twin and Townes van Zandt. It over compensates way too hard to the point where I seriously believe that some people deliberately shill reviews/ratings like that one Black Dresses album to land on the charts early and get a screenshot of them being the 967th best album of all time until everyone catches on and pushes it back down.
Strangely, the rating also fucked over a lot of 2000's albums, so while a lot of bumper years in the 70's and 90's will have albums that still rank in the top 2000 overall despite being well below the top 40, the 2000's didn't get such a boost.
