Is this statement true? Do you think that people that only makes money by doing music is worth listening?
Is this statement true? Do you think that people that only makes money by doing music is worth listening?
No but Yas Forums actually unironically believes this and it's pretty funny to me
>stop listening to Iron Maiden
No.
based department called
lou reed, frank zappa, radiohead, bowie, miles davis, bob dylan
just gonna bin my records involving all of these people
Whats your excuse when your favorite artist makes more money in a month than you in your lifetime? Improve your music taste c'mon, there are tones of unknown bands worth listening.
those are all dead. Op is not talking about them, but famous trap music or indie bullshit that's rampaging.
Just listen to what you like. That's the point of music
that’s exactly why it’s stupid to make sweeping general claims like that - sufjan stevens, radiohead, the flaming lips, mgmt, of montreal come to mind and fit that category too
he’s talking shit
>bob dylan is dead
this certainly calls into question whether commercialism affects the validity of art, which i think if music is made purely as a commodity then yes its not art but a product. Thats not to say that music thats commercial cant also have an artistic aspect to it
he's half dead though
does that mean pic related is patrician
it was and still is
wow that might be the worst take I’ve ever seen
I'm an indie gatekeeper faggot and this is still an awful take afaic
>of montreal
based
It's literally unlistenable. Stfu Dubbi
If they're rich? Stop listening. If they make money, well they're laborers
my excuse is that they're talented and they earned it.
musicians get popular for a reason
nah mate don't do it for all of them
just radiohead
Talent doesnt get along with money. They all end up selling themselves. They start doing something worth and turn it to crap, thats the point.
radiohead who have been mentioned in this thread already did the exact opposite, after creating a hugely successful chart topping album they created their 2 best and most inaccessible albums immediately following it
the beatles didn’t do that
bjork didn’t
kate bush didn’t
lou reed didn’t
it’s not a rule, it’s not even that common
I think that this is true as long as underground becomes mainstream. That's about niche genres and he's right
>my excuse is that they're talented and they earned it.
lol no they didnt "earn" it their label marketed them the correct way in order to max profits and them getting rich is a product of a mass deliberate scheme by corporate powers
Do you think that [your favorite trap musician] deserved it?
L M A O
Listening to Iron Maiden does not exclude me from listening to listening to lesser known bands. At the same time, I am not going to avoid such an impossibly based group of musicians just because they've earned some well deserved wealth.
what about separating the art from the artist?
if they're dead, that's good.
Making great art and getting rich off of it is the most based thing one can do.
I think it's more true today than it was before, mainly social media feeding musician's ego more and more than ever before.
