Why do zoomers like 80s post-punk so much?

80s revivalism is in right now. we're seeing it a lot in music, tv/movies, and even fashion. guessing within 3 years it'll be out of style again

dunno, never realized they did

I just like the bands like birthday party, bad seeds, cure etc.

cause it's actually good and a huge middle finger to dad rock around the same time like lynyrd skynyrd, whitesnake, guns n roses, etc.

It feels like 80s revivalism has been "in" since the fucking 2000s desu.

maybe but i feel like it's reached a peak. stuff like stranger things, joy division shirts at every major retailers, every indie band trying to sound like 80s british indie pop.

The Smiths are just popular because the saddo individualist type shit is hip now (again). I don't think the average zoomie cares about the Fall or Killing Joke

it's been in for a while. and it reached his peak years ago. its a downward trend

The zoomer fears the New Order / New Wave chad

the gloomy doomer thatcher/reagan era atmosphere resonates with the zoomers today

can they handle a bit of synth-pop?

>the saddo individualist type shit is hip now (again)
No, It isn't hip, people who try grabbing attention by likening themselves to memes are still seen as the dorks they actually are by most people.

(((The Washington Post™)))

Yeah it’s definitely peaked. Early 2000’s indie rock had lots of 80’s influences but the guitar riffs were very 70’s influenced and songs also had 90’s dance influences and grunge guitar tones. Franz Ferdinand is the prime example. Nowadays it’s all 80’s post punk or synthpop influence. Artists would rather copy directly from the 80’s than take bits and pieces from all ages.

hypnogagaacica pop

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Killers another good example, Interpol to an extent. White Stripes and the Strokes took a lot from the 60s 70s from the likes of MC5 and the Stooges, and Television and Velvet Underground.

Because it was the best period of music, nothing has topped it before or since.

FUCKING LOL.

seething

What is the Zoomer equivalent to the Strokes?

Car seat headrest

70s prog/hard rock era was better.

I like both, am I a big dumb dumb?

why isn’t post punk popular today then? why is it ONLY rap?

I'm guessing it will be popular when people get tired of rap or when 2000's kids are 30 something.

>when people get tired of rap
Doesn't seem like that's gonna happen any time soon, we're going on 30 years.

They only like certain 80s post-punk. Nobody under 30 is listening to U2's "Boy" or whatever

It has to end some day, I hope it does. I don't mean end completely but I mean a moment when rap artists are as unimportant as punk rock is today.

The Smiths aren't punk

>around the same time

neither is post-punk
