Why do so many artists neglect album covers?

You're looking through nostalgia. They're both good covers.
The Damn cover expresses black America pretty well

Calling someone white isn't an insult, I wasn't trying to be insulting. I'm just stating a simple fact.

However, I am now trying to be insulting when I say this;

No one but a tasteless whiteboy would complain about album art being trash.

No matter what point in time you look at, some artists have cared and others haven't. Some were tacky, superficial and of the era and others are ageless.

It isn't supposed to be indicative of anything other than trying to contextualize the album. Good or bad as it is, it just doesn't matter.

Contextualising the album is something that matters though. Associating an image with the music can reveal extra meaning. Just like adding certain music to the images in a film can change the meaning of them.

For the record i like the Damn cover.

>look for album recommendations
>"try this user!"
>look at the cover
>its shit
>so i dont listen to the album

Anyone else do this?

See Not every album is good, let the cream rise to the top like it should.
If you don't like bad album art, maybe that band isn't for you (although, of course you'd be accidentally ruling out many great bands)

You have shit taste in aesthetics, Kendrick doesn't have a single good cover.

The thing that bothers me for a lot of artists is when they have like 10 albums and they're all a variation of a picture of their face

fucking cringe
