Canned products tend to last longer.

Can is great. Yago Mago sounds dated but is even better

Tago Mago still sounds pretty modern and sleek desu user

kek

The drums are just so good on it that they're still next level.

oh yeah basically sounds exactly like a song off kid a. well, it's the other way round because of how time works but you get my point

Would the title track of Future Days be considered reggae? I showed it to a friend and he said it kind of had a reggae beat.

Radiohead acknowledged they ripped off Can a lot.
Bands still don't quite get that mechanical rhythm and general ethos/feel of Can's music. They tend to mutate into something else.

Can's like that island on map charts that nobody can find since.

See It's "krautrock" during that period. It was just a weird scene that had a sound and understood what it was they were doing at the time.
They and everyone else have forgotten the details of why it sounds like it does. I think it was just Germany in that period which was just "heavy" with doom when the rest of the world were partying as hippies.

I disagree, I think the drum rhythms are latin or something, but not rastafarian. The bass line would fit in a stereotypical reggae song but no other aspect of the song (according to me).

It doesn't sound African ay.
It's too mechanical. Very German I would call it.

I know it is krautrock, of course.
However, I do think some reggae music can feel very mechanical instrumentally.

Thw production is so fucking dated though

How so

It sounds like its coming out of a can.
They did a better job on Ege and FD thankfully.

I don't think you understand. I'm an anglo and I felt that the drumming on their records sounded "German". In fact, I think of breakbeat and techno when I hear it.
Reggae is just on a different wavelength and feel. Reminds me more of hip hop.

As in sound quality or how they played their instruments? The 2011 remaster is extremely listenable, you are able to hear everything that is being played well enough for a 49 year old album.

Why is Krautrock is fucking based, bros? 70s Germany has the finest tunes

master race

it sounded like shit then and it sounds like shit now.

As in sound quality. The mix is way too thin. It should be louder and heavier because the way they play is excellent.
Amond Düül II's Yeti (which came out a year prior) sounds like doom metal compared to Tago Mago.

projector mask theory

absolutely, I just think the choice of words confused me.
I agree with you, and I agree with the user who thinks that the sound and production of Ege Bamyasi has aged way better than Yago Mago, however ofc both albums are amazing

I like how Tago Mago sounds.

Why would you want Can to sound like heavy metal? That is not what they were meant to sound like.

nice

>band named Can
>music sounds like it's coming out of a can
We've been played for fools this whole time.

The studio mix is a bit too quiet for my taste. I want more of that loud live energy.

LOL!
