Steely Dan are a great band but I'm surprised how famous they were.
They didn't tour, they played a unique style with heavy jazz elements rather than anything trendy, and they didn't have poster boy looks. The music quality spoke for itself and got them hits.

later albums are slick urban jazz pop with sublime production and musicianship
also great lyricists

Honestly I've broken my own rule by not listening to them literally just cus the one on the left looks like an annoying twink onions boy
