1. Billie goes where the clout is. That's why she was a Lana/Lorde/Melanie Martinez clone at the start, turned into a SoundCloud rapper in 2018 when SoundCloud rap was popping (namely X), and is now making climate and vegan activism a huge part of her image thanks to Greta Thunberg being the big teenage name.
2. Eyelash had a personal stylist since she was 14 planning out her entire image.
3. "Provocative" white women in music have been copying black culture for decades. What Billie is doing is no different than what Madonna did 30 years ago.

I'd wager Billie is a lot smarter than she lets on. She was literally raised in the entertainment industry and pretty much the only thing she knows a lot about is pop culture, so I'd expect her to be calling at least some of the shots.

I do agree her team is the only reason she's this big, but I disagree that she herself has little to no part in it. She knows how to speak to teen girls. I was in her IG Live session late last night and it was filled to the brim with zoomer girls. When she invited a handful of them to join her live, almost every single one she brought on was almost in tears. That's not entirely the working of her team, even if I agree the image and directions they've planned for her certainly paid off.

I hear you but I disagree. The reason they idolize her is not because of anything inherent to her personality. It is not because of her talent, skill, words, or anything unique to her own choices.
They idolize her because she is idolized. They idolize her because she is out on a pedestal, and that makes young girls writhe for her attention.
In the same way there is nothing inherently skillful, cunning, or talented about most boy bands, the same goes for her. One direction weren’t smart or groundbreaking. They were reasonably attractive, well-produced (not musically but all around) and easy to PROJECT ONTO.
the girls like her for her clear skin and symmetrical face, I’ll give her that, though these mostly are of no credit of her own. But spouting generic phrases like you are beautiful and loved will makeANY teenage girl scream your music saved their life.
It didn’t. It is simply about being noticed. And Billie has been produced to be noticed, and I struggle to see any part of her that is indicative of any autonomy.

Think of it this way: the team can only do so much. They can't force Billie to do anything she doesn't want to do. Clearly, her having parents in the industry who homeschooled her to be the exact star she is now had to have been a major factor in all of this.

She’s using the tools she’s been given to gain gratification and popularity. The music is incidental. If woodworking were what made people popular she would just as easily have accepted doing that.
