does anyone else feel like the Indonesian Squiers are better than Mexican Fenders? If you can get past the Squier on the headstock, you're buying a better guitar for half of the price. Fuck China though.

Also, if you were paying attention, you’d see in the quote that Carlson modified his own Squier. Which makes sense, because the stock pickups are trash.
With a Mexican Strat you don’t need to do that, because the pickups sound great, and always have.

the difference between overwound and the correct number of windings (which isn't a huge amount) is very large.
basically, the more windings a pickup has, the worse it sounds, for everything.

Any guitar can sound good if your tone is processed enough. Resonant wood, carefully wound pickups, good non porous bridge metals, fancy nuts, nickel frets, all that, totally pointless if your sound is soaked in overdrive, reverb, delay and a bit of amp distortion.

I think that's an ugly top. I hate ugly knots in the wood that are other colors. Companies like Kiesel think they're beautiful and like to make tops with them, but I want a nice uniform top like nice straight flamed maple

how do i into guitar when no matter the amount of hand training i do, it doesnt fucking matter, my shitty fucking hands just wont cooperate. people just keep saying practice more, but when i've put several years into self learning, seeing instructors on and off, and shit like rocksmith to no avail it just seems fruitless. hand stretches don't help and haven't helped since I started trying to learn at 14, im almost 22 now and I literally haven't advanced past the basics.
