How likely is it his legacy will end up being super commodified the same way Kurt Cobain's was? Can we expect to see his image on cigarette lighters and handbags come 2025?

fuck this guy
he’s completely forgotten
Hardly. He still has a hardcore fan base and his albums are still streaming. Plus, a whole new generation of kids are just getting into his music now.
Difference between them is Kurt wrote songs that got acclaim from fans & critics & other musicians
literally no one takes X's music seriously unless they're 13
Kill yourself
that's about the extent of XXXtentacion legacy
Based retard!
literally who
Why?
Bullshit. X had plenty of fans of all ages.
extremely, just like lil peep and juice wrld
Probably not Juice WRLD. Juice was incredibly successful during his year and a half of relevancy. Peep and X on the other hand weren't all that profitable when they were alive (especially Peep), so it's no wonder the labels are going to graverob them to no end.
the delusion is so real, even comparing this guy to nirvana is a joke
Fuck you. Jah meant more to Gen Z than Kurt Cobain meant to Gen X.
RIP Jah. See you in Heaven...
this lil nigga was crazy as fuck lmao
I can see it. His death came as a big shock to the SoundCloud rap scene. He was one of the reasons SoundCloud rap became popular
I don't think time will be kind to X, but I bet people will still talk about Peep 10 years from now
zoomers don't have the attention span for shit like that
their idols die, they milk their deaths for clout, they move on to the next popular artist, repeat
That's what I've been saying in every single one of these treads comparing X to Kurt. It's apples to oranges, and a lot of that has to do with the times. X was a product of music streaming which ensures very short-lived careers (especially in hip hop where new rappers are a dime a dozen). Kurt became big at a time when artists had to be developed in order to become relevant and stick around. Nirvana were also all over radio and MTV, playing music festivals, appearing on every other magazine cover, etc. at their peak. X had none of that and only got huge due to social media.
are you kidding me, most people never heard of him or his songs, and the people that do are like "i'm glad he's dead". he may have good music but dude was a terrible influence to society. I remember lots of kids gathering in the no jumper store the day he passed, going crazy about his death. shit felt like a DBZ arc had ended
haha you live in LA pussy
you know I'm subscribed to adam
who?
The fact that hundreds of kids rioted when he died is proof he had a tremendous influence.
Smells Like Teen Spirit = 1 billion Youtube views
SAD! = 129 million Youtube views
>2025
most of the new artists by then will probably be forgotten or not heard of as much
he's a literal who and people only listened to him because they felt sorry and jumped on the bandwagon
He'll be forgotten about completely by normies in another 2 years. Trap is already dying
still surprised at how this obvious b8 always gets at least 1
>Trap is already dying
this makes me sad. I hope it works out like metal genres, where ten or fifteen cats keep that shit alive for another thirty years, even though mostly underground
Trap metal is the future of both rap and rock. Denzel Curry, Lil Pump, and Trippie are all releasing rock albums.
