You know what?

You know what?
Billy Joel is pretty fucking good.

He'd be fine if I hadn't heard every one of his songs a million times over

I knew some of his songs, but I've gotten into Joel real hard lately.
He doesn't only have a good set of pipes, he's a pretty talented songwriter.

okay this is epic

Piano Man [Columbia, 1974]
Joel's debut lp, Cold Spring Harbor, was recorded in the vicinity of 35 rpm, reportedly to fit on all the material--he's one of those eternal teenagers who just won't shut up. Stubborn little bastard too--after his bid stiffed, he worked a Los Angeles cocktail lounge soaking up Experience. Here he poses as the Irving Berlin of narcissistic alienation, puffing up and condescending to the fantasies of fans who spend their entire lives by the stereo feeling Sensitive. And just to show them who's boss, he hits them with a ballad in the manner of Aaron Copland. C-

Billy Joel is the only man on earth I actively wish death upon. Worst music ever made.

And I hate you for enjoying it

Hiya, fellow Northeast bro. Bet nobody in, say, Texas would say that.

Go back to radiohead

I hate him and really fucking hate only the good for young. Jewish pedophile

If you think billy Joel is good you need to hear Elton John. Seriously it will blow the brain out of your pea head

Why do you wish death upon him?

I could write a paper on it but to quickly sum it up he makes awful music and he knows it and he thinks his fans are fucking idiots for even enjoying him

And that doesn’t sit well with me. Plus lots of stories of shady shit and destructive behavior

>Leather Jackets
>Victim of Love
>Duets
Yeah Elton might be good but he literally released some of the worst albums of the 80's during Joel's prime. At least Joel knew when to stop making albums when he ran out of steam.

Ok I’ll give you this but the 70s Elton John releases like 8 incredible albums in a row

I don't listen to faggots user.

Well you’re listening to billy Joel so I think that’s up for debate

This is true. Elton has more good albums than Joel but at the same token he has more bad ones imo. The mediocre Joel albums don't really stray off the path of what he was making during his prime. Whereas Elton has like 30 albums Billy has around a dozen so that's probably part of it too.

It's all about SOUL

And the highs.....are very high

I mean honky chateau to don’t shoot me to goodbye yellow brick road.....that might be the best three albums in a row by someone

Elton didn't write his own material though and without Bernie Taupin he was completely lost and didn't know what to do.

As someone who likes Tumbleweed and Madman I'd add those two in front to give a 5 album streak. As someone who likes Joel I don't think Joel has a 5 album streak as impressive as that. Maybe a handful of artists have a 5 album streak that good and consistent.

>Maybe a handful of artists have a 5 album streak that good and consistent.
Judas Priest maybe. Can't think of many others. Van Halen? U2?

BJ managed to keep the momentum going for 20 years which is impressive by any stretch. He didn't put out a dud from Piano Man to ROD and then packed it all in and retired.

But who doesn't like It's Still Rock and Roll To Me?

>song was encouraging thriftiness during the early 80s economic recession
>also took a shit on critics

I'd add Neil Young

I AAAAAMMMMM AN INNOCENT MAN

I can't say he kept the momentum going as long. He had a great run in the early 70s and another great run in the late 80s-early 90s but everything else is questionable to outright bad.

>marries a literal supermodel
>his daughter...looks like him instead
>proving the universe has a weird/sick sense of humor

why is he so red

Elton wrote all the material except the lyrics my dude. All the music was Elton

>he's one of those eternal teenagers who just won't shut up.
Biggest projection of all time.

True. I was just pointing out the 5 album streak. I always thought Everybody's Rockin' was a funny album tho. From Everybody Knows This is Nowhere to Zuma it's more like a 6 album streak.

>burgers think Philadelphia Freedom (a gay rights anthem and a pretty unsubtle one at that) was about the upcoming bicentennial and made it a #1 US hit
