I really hate the 2. kind. In any metal subgenres and in metal as a whole. The kind of people that tell you X popular band/style is bad, you should listen to y, their obscure, "rawer" version of it that usually sounds shittier and doesn't scratch the same itch at all. Like telling someone who likes Dissection to listen to the "superior" Sacramentum instead, or what that faggot was doing earlier "training" people about his "real" melodeath instead of what's popular and good. If we don't even come from the same standpoint why are you making recommendations, faggot? Not even making recommendations, but outright telling me what to listen to. Fuck you.

Really cancerous and childish behavior, that I've seen a lot and would like to explore more from a psychological perspective. "One-upmanship" is probably the most suitable term for it. There's two parts to it, first it's the obsession with obscurity and rejection of everything popular, then the oneupmanship over others, attacking their tastes. Add to that some obsession with ugliness too, like it has to sound shitty and unsatisfying, if it sounds good or like something someone with a working mind would listen to it's bad.

THE most important metal band ever just to make clear

Attached: Metallica_16_9_1578385062.jpg (1986x1100, 145.69K)

Right after Black Sabbath and Discharge

Discharge isn't even in the same league, be serious.

Portrait sucks
In Solitude sucks
Attic sucks
Mercyful Fate clones suck

Actually, I take it back. I'm not some authority on everything metal so I'd like to give you the opportunity to explain yourself. Why Discharge? And how are they more influential than Metallica?

There is nothing wrong with liking Metallica. There is everything wrong with "If you don't like this mainstream band, that you've heard 1000 times on radio, you are a tourist." I only attack against people like these, because they are annoying as fuck. I don't attack Metallica listeners, that don't force it down on me. Only worse thing than elitism, is wannabe-elitism. Come on, if you want to be annoying elitist at least shove down some obscure ug shit, and not mainstream band that everyone has heard.

Actually, I take back my taking it back. Yuu are a complete idiot. Discharge is completely insignificant.

THIS IS, HUH, WOW

>Mercyful Fate clones suck
Almost read Mercyful Fate sucks, and was getting ready to rape you.

mercyful fate sucks

I think there's a sense of reward for being the keyholder, a sort of exclusivity. Now I like exploring metal and finding all kinds of neat obscure demos and what have you, but none of it is ever going to surpass Slayer, Blind Guardian, Morbid Angel, Darkthrone etc. The best shit has been thoroughly unearthed and catalogued at this point, for a reason.

Have any of you even watched my DragonForce-recs? You are really missing out if you haven't

I'm not your personal homosex vending machine.

It is easy to explain. They were a huge influence for extreme metal in general, even James Hetfield himself stated, that brutality of Discharge was an influence of Metallica's sound. "Thrash metal groups like Metallica and Slayer were inspired by their speed and brutality" So yeah, no Discharge - no Metallica, or maybe Metallica, but with different sound. You can easy look it all up.

i wasnt looking to have sex with another man, because im not a faggot like king diamond

Those bands have either no concept or no drive towards songwriting that even compares to MF. It seems like 80s bands wrote the coolest riffs possible as if their very lives depended on it. Something like the Leatherwolf ep has more sheer riffage than the combined output of all trad revivalists last year.

>i wasnt looking to have sex with another man
Why not? Sex with another man is the superior form of sex.

Metallica is elite though, within trash metal. Cope.
Name ONE (1) album better than Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. That isn't Rust in Peace or Kill Em All.

(Yes I'm calling it trash metal, the more obscure South American pronunciation, deal with it)

Also reposting my fursuit from the last thread. I actually went to a Metallica-gig in it once

Show No Mercy

Cope.

Not even gonna mention, that they influenced grindcore, crust punk. d-beat

Discharge laid the groundwork for early thrash/proto-black/proto-death even harder than Venom did and most of the influential thrash metal bands cite Discharge as an influence.
Discharge is probably the most influential band in both the hardcore punk and extreme metal spheres.

HOLY SHIT.

So yeah Negru, you should thank Discharge for Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets

It's not that good

All true. These bands are pathetic wannabes and they know it. They tried to fill the gap left by King's hiatus and quietly faded away when he returned. No balls.

I know its not the real Negru posting but the furry stuff is still funny as hell

>Now I like exploring metal and finding all kinds of neat obscure demos and what have you, but none of it is ever going to surpass Slayer, Blind Guardian, Morbid Angel, Darkthrone etc.

Congratulations, you are Ascended.

There are some cases where there are true positives for that though, like with Carnage or Aspid, in their respective genres. They maybe aren't better than the mainstream bands but they certainly are "special", true hidden gems. And these few examples function as a driver for the rest of that sifting behavior, which is generally unrewarding.

There are also cases where a band makes the jump from one category to another, such as (I know you'll hate me for this) DragonForce. They flipped from relative obscurity and being underground to exploding onto the mainstream and becoming "entry level". It's funny that if they would have remained underground people here would be praising them as one of those obscure gems, and telling others to listen to it over more "mainstream", established acts like Blind Guardian.

You should go to cons with me sometime, it's so much fun. Uups...forgot you were a muzzie

Big Amazon order came in for me today. Here's all the loud and heavy stuff.

>They flipped from relative obscurity and being underground to exploding onto the mainstream and becoming "entry level"

And then they disappeared into relative obscurity again because they didn't manage to capitalize on their short-lived popularity

nice stuff user

Whoops. Meant to crop the Malibu Ken out, because that is not loud nor heavy. Still love it though.

One cool thing about the Autopsy CD is the original cover is on the backnof the booklet.

I'd say they managed pretty well. They gave us many more good albums instead of "selling out" and pandering to the mainstream. I believe Herman Li when he says they never set out to become pro musicians, they were just doing it for fun and it just happened. I hope they continue being honest and true to their own style, it would be so easy for them to make pop punk or whatever.
