I don't think they've had any influence on music at all.

What was their influence exactly?
Feel like Clams Casino was more influential than them

They did influence Crystal Castles and Purity Ring, but the first one is dead and the second one should be dead too

>They did influence Crystal Castles and Purity Ring
No one knows these bands outside of the internet.

I never seen anything witchouse influence being straight up terrible, so I'd say mostly positive.
Also, they were probably the first legit internet flash in the pan genre.

What? Alice Practice """leaked""" in 2006, way before Salem released anything. If anything, CC were influenced by electroclash like Adult.

witch house was the most relevant thing 2010-2011

>artists just get influenced at the beginning, they don't pick up other influences along the way

CC only started making witchouse influenced stuff starting on (II). (III) onwards they were pretty much a witchouse act.

Witch house, vaporwave, hypnagogic pop etc. have always been shitty fads for slightly alternative teenagers who didn't care about the music itself

Yeah right, then their influence was nothing but negative since I didn't care about anything CC did after (II)

To say the least Clams Casino was influenced by them heavily, so cloud rap the way it become a thing is a witch house offshoot, a lot of modern trap bends oneself with cloud rap

Hypnagogic pop was already a thing before being co-opted by the indie kids, vaporwave started with some pretty strong ideas to back it up (OPN and Ferraro interviews from 10-11), and witchouse was just a group of legit crackheads that came up with a original sound and aesthetic that caught on. They all seem pretty legit. The only internet-genre that never had a strong enough musical identity to justify itself as legit was seapunk (and all the other forced shit like slime punk, oceangrunge, etc.).

Their influence as a whole is negative because one (1) band started making music that you don't like?

Yes

>Clams Casino was influenced by them heavily
Wasn't it the other way around? How invented witch house btw? It's easy to know that vaporwave was Lopatin, Ferraro and Vektroid but I never knew how Witch House cam to be, only that it was the microgenre right after Chillwave
Anyway, I've always believed that Salem influenced Lil Ugly Mane directly. IMO Salem's type of Witch House was inspired by Memphis Rap and Horrorcore, so Travis might have picked up the idea from them. I don't know for certain though

>How invented witch house btw?
*Who

They were doing that sound back in 2008. They are unarguably the originators.
Travis probably picked the memphis rap and horrorcore influences from his hometown, being from Texas and all. I wouldn't be surprised if he was inspired by Salem though, being a producer and all. Only heard the two Rodeos so I can't say for sure.

What was chillwave, you dumb teenager?

He didn't use to have that trademark sound before Salem was getting bigger
I don't know for Travis Scott himself, but there's a lot of witch house bits in the production of rodeo

Chillwave doesn't have a strong enough visual image tbqh. Witchouse (and Seapunk) were the first where you had an explosion of visuals related to the genre that heavily contributed to the community (all the related art blogs and such). That's a pretty defining characteristic of those sorts of internet genres imo.

fred durst made that decent WitchHouse album so i would say positive

what

Chino from the fucking Deftones made a witchouse-influenced project
youtube.com/watch?v=QBN-1Q0_Fiw

THEIR INFLUENCE WAS ABSORLUROELWMER SAOFBSHIT IM FUCKING PISSED FUCK 100KEKS BUNCH OF COPIERS

So, some literally who made an album inspired by them? Ok, but no one outside Yas Forums knows who he is anyways. That doesn't make them influential.

Does Crosses really have any witchhouse influence apart from the aesthetic? I'm not really familiar with the genre
poor bait

>Chino Moreno
>Deftones
>literally whos
I urge you to go outside after the virus calms down, I've seen normies using Deftones t's.
Also, a band doesn't have influence top40 shite to be considered influencial.

Some. They're more in the vein of acts like OoOoo and Balam Acab.
