Painting With grew on me a lot desu
Don't get me wrong it's not like a masterpiece or anything, and definitely not as good as most of their other work. Some of the songs are filler and most of the bass synths sound like absolute shit.
But there's still a lot of great tracks on here. Floridada/Hocus Pocus/Vertical Lying in the Grass/On Delay/Golden Gal would have made for a god-tier EP.

Spirit is their best album solely because of Alvin Row
All the tracks on Spirit are incredible and underrated, I feel like they get overshadowed to much by Alvin Row. Alvin Row is enhanced even more by the dread and isolation of the previous 9 tracks, it comes in and finishes in a very uplifting conclusion to Avey's despair.

its a great album better than mpp but of course not on the level of strawberry jam or feels. the burglars and bagels in kiev are the best tracks after floridada. the 3/4 is perfect and the few fillery tracks blend in well. maybe could have ended better. i have no idea why its this underapreciated when it has those very unique fast melodies.
It helps to think of them as a jam band now but with moogs
