Ive been playing electric guitar guitar for around 10 months now and I'm planning on upgrading the budget starter amp I bought. Mosty for bedroom and home recording use.
Is the Boss Katana the way to go or will a tube amp head with a 1x12 sound better? Need some recommendations

My entire rig is solid state now and I love it. It feels much better for what I play.
Check out the Boss Nextone. It's the closest "tube" sounding solid state amp.

With modern tech you can get similar tones from solid state.
or you could even get an Elf bass amp head and run it into a guitar cab or even a bass cab and it works great.

I Cant tell you, you have to go to your local guitar store and try out the variations but if theres a particular configuration you like ic an point you to maybe a cost effective alternative with marginal differences

sound quality is not what varies much since it's 99% pickups, playability is what makes the difference

What is there not to get? Low tuned slow chromatic power chord riffs. Don't forget to use inverted power chords too

In some cases I would put American tone below Japanese and Mexican alnico pups because their "noiseless" pickups are actually stacked humbuckers and they sound like shit. For $2k they should have used an air coil like suhr/illitch.
