>Trad
few threads ago you sperged out about trad, "durr that doesn't mean anything it's retarded"
There's basically two poles or sides in metal. On the one hand there's the "True" or "Trad" pole, encompassing the following: Heavy Metal, Traditional Doom, Speed Metal, Power Metal, and to some extent Neoclassical Metal. Basically anything with clean singing, solos, and traditional heavy metal riffs.
On the other side there's the "extreme" end, encompassing black metal, death metal, and related offshoots.
Thrash is somewhere in the middle. So is melodeath à la In Flames, but for different reasons.
You can see the divergence between the two sides already in the early 1980s: on the one hand there were the NWOBHM, Heavy, Speed, Power and Trad Doom bands carrying on and evolving the old hard rock sound, while simultaneously the extreme end was emerging with primitive examples of "proto" or "first wave" black metal and death metal, basically still a kind of extreme thrash at the time (Hellhammer & Celtic Frost, Sodom, Bathory, Possessed, Mantas, DeathStrike, Sepultura, Necrovore).
Personally I think the extreme influence comes ultimately from punk, through Motorhead, Hardcore and Discharge back into metal, where it influenced Venom, Thrash and the more extreme varieties of Thrash that would become BM and DM.
Cringe copypasta
Thanks for remembering, I still think it's retarded even though it does mean something to you.
Nothing to add to the topic, I see.
>why yes I'm a fan of Big Four
>Blind Guardian, Running Wild, Helloween and Gamma Ray are my favorite bands
