WHY THE FUCK DOES 21century MUSIC SUCK SO MUCH?

Is it because its made with computers??
Is it because musicians literally dont even have highschools any more, and dont read books..
You had to be an artist before, and to be an artist you had to have something to tell, and some knowledge.. Imagine a dumb hip hop nigger reading philosophy.. Biggest new star Billieeishit doesnt even have highschool.. Fuck all these people
Imagine being such a loser that you listen to creations of a no school little girl..
The idiots of the 20th century at least knew how to play guitars...
Where are the Dylans and Cohens of the 21 century?

>Where are the Dylans and Cohens of the 21 century?
Overrated kike industry plants? We still have a lot of these.

I hate to blame illegal downloading BUT once that shit took off and nobody paid for music anymore, its not gonna have positive effects on the quality of music being released.

fuck off racist loser

well people would still rather pay for entertainment than good art, even if you would have to pay.. they like asses and idiotic beats more than something you actually have to think about or have some preknowledge to understand

Because you can't look. I said that type of thing when I was 13 because I was a retard who looked at top 50 for music. Look at the top 50s of the 90s, or the 80s you will find so much shit, one or two good artists which is a pretty similar standard to compare too today. Even still todays music isn't limited by charts, there are many great artists releasing on the internet

>Where are the Dylans and Cohens of the 21 century?
Joanna Newsom. How many Dylans did the 20th century produced btw ?

missing the point kind of bro... I know there is good shit Im not fucking stupid, the point is that before there was shit, but also the beatles and dylan and mingus dominating the charts.. now if you want something that isnt a nigger or a 14 year old girl you have to "look" and spend milions of hours discovering

You really need to improve your English. What do you mean "don't have high school?" Is that supposed to mean they didn't finish or even go to high school?

yeah Joanna Newsom = Dylan
fuck off moron

You're right, Joanna Newsom > Dylan, sorry.

no he meant that they dont have a highschool building in their pocket..

Plebbit

Oh, of course.

yeah, music always sucked...
fuck music..
there are maybe 2 or 3 musicians to ever be good

3 Artists in the 60s. So not there is no good music in the 21st century. There is no good music in the charts since the 60s.

>go the Spotify page of an artist you like
>click "Fans Also Like"
>wtf this is literally like spending millions of hours of my time discovering things

this is literally the worst post i've ever seen good job

that never gets it right

>NOOOOOOOOO I CAN'T LISTEN TO MUSIC IF IT ISN'T SPOONFED TO MEEEEE
Music was never for you, fag.

Mingus dominating the chart. LOL. God damn OP is dumb, I love it.

you are a virgin I see

there is a jazz chart, not just the top 50 pop chart moron

>why do I have to put time in to something to get more than surface level offerings out of it?
There are still big quality acts like Radiohead in the mainstream putting out fairly decent music once in a while but if you wait for the industry to spit out something good in any era you'd be waiting a fair while

yeah kind of true, nice reply
just that Radiohead is hipster pseud shit

You're missing the god damn point you faggots.

In the past, up until about the late 90s I think, there were brilliant artists that weren't just making great art, but they were topping the charts with it AS WELL. The most acclaimed artists of their generation were usually also some of the best selling artists of their generation. There has always been good music and shit music in every era, but in the past, you used to have some truly amazing artists that were hitting #1 and having massive sellout top capacity tours off the back of albums that went down in history as timeless classics.

Now the charts are solely lowest common denominator shit. What happened? You can say all you like "well it doesn't matter what's on the charts" but it fucking does. In the past, a kid would have grown up and the first music they hear might be The Beatles, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Nirvana, because those artists were the ones who were ultra popular in their day. That would have instilled in them from a young age an appreciation for good and thoughtful music. Now a kid will grow up and the first music they listen to will be fucking Billie Eilish and Lil Pump. This shit will actively ruin the artistry of future generations to extents we can't even think imaginable. In 20 years time, there really will be no good albums underground or otherwise, because the kids who grow up now will all want to make lowest common denominator zoomerpop and mumble rap, if they make any music at all.

finally somebody who gets it

>POPULAR = GOOD
>BEST SELLING = GOOD
Please stop. It's embarassing.

You're going to live in global favela world. Enjoy the ride

hes not saying that you moron

>Now a kid will grow up and the first music they listen to will be fucking Billie Eilish and Lil Pump
I'm a zoomer and the music I grew up with was Queen and The Beatles you stupid fucking idiot. Most people grow up with what their parents listen to, and if you care about music at all you WILL find more music on your own, or you'll stay an eternal critic dickrider tourist like you. RYM, Facebook and this place is full of zoomers.
>The most acclaimed artists of their generation were usually also some of the best selling artists of their generation.
This is a straight up lie. What the fuck.

internet is the worst thing to happen to us as a race

You realize that popular music shapes culture right? You realize that the musical trends of tomorrow will mostly be defined by what is popular today, right? Even among the underground artists of a decade from now, they will be informed greatly by those artists who are topping the charts today.

It isn't fucking good if the top 40 is all totally inane shit with no artistry. It spells out a BAD future for music, because this is the music that most people will be hearing, the music that will be inspiring fucking kids who are growing up now to make music.

the music I grew up with is...
i dont think you grew up at all

true

So a bunch of normies will listen to shit music and will make shit music inspired by that shit music? Wow like that hasn't been happening since forever now! The people who care about music will find music on their own and make good music. No one cares about the top 40 other than turbo NPCs.

He's probably a pedophile and a neo-Nazi too. People who post soijacks tend to be like that.

Something tells me you aren't as dedicated to the medium as you think you are. You probably need to expand your horizons and dig a little deeper than the surface-level pop music that you undoubtedly gravitate towards.

Why are there no more Dylans? Why would there be? Why are there no more Bachs or Beethovens? What more could you possibly do to add to the annals of counterpoint with traditional instruments? And do you really wanna hear more guitar-driven folk music?

Like anything, the nature of music is to evolve. If the notable contemporary musicians aren't pushing the boundaries and keeping things fresh, music would die a quick death. Instead, we have to suffer through it's slow death that we're currently in the midst of.

If you want music that's relatively new and exciting, it would be rather silly to look to the past. There's still interesting and inventive music being made, but you're not gonna find it in some bloke with a guitar moaning about the zeitgeist.

See: Pan Records, Editions Mego, The Death of Rave, Svbkvlt. If you're not interested in any of the music they have to offer, then you're not really interested in music that's boundary-pushing -- and given your comment about "knowing how to play guitars", I'm guessing that's the case.

YES MORON but before people who cared about music found it much easier because it was on the chart.. are you retarded?

>but before people who cared about music found it much easier because it was on the chart
And NOW people who care about music find it much easier because of something called THE INTERNET you massive fucking idiot. Zoomers have practically infinite access of music right now thanks to it. Are you fucking serious?

he's not saying that the problem is that there are no Dylans, he's saying that the new artists are shit.. And he is talking about surface level, not about deep under.. read the post before you answer

There are plenty of examples of the greatest music of their generation that didn't top ther charts though. Much better than your examples listed.
>Frank Zappa and the mothers
>Faust
>Big Black
>Fugazi
>Cows
>Felt
>The Velvet Underground (At the release of the Velvet Underground + Nico they were very niche, only sold 30k copies)
>Galaxie 500
>Neutral Milk Hotel
>Slint
>King Kong
>Unwound
>Polvo
None of these artists listed much critical acclaim, they range from 1960-90 and are all great, and I could go on for much longer

to find something you have to know what are you looking for, how will they what to google if they only know about Billie Eilish and Kanye idiot

none of those are better than the examples the other guy posted.. fuck off hipster
