Shit album, shit band. Wilson is the biggest fraud in music.

Wouldn't say that to our Saviour and Edgelord, Steven Wilson, would you?

Listened to PC ("In absentia") for the first time just today. It was fine, but I could hear some strong influences here and there (notably Pink Floyd and Rush). Also, the overall feel was rather feminine and trivial, which doesn't really go well with the kind aura of importance prog has to have.

Listen to the early albums, mostly Up the Downstair, The Sky Moves Sideways, Signify. It's a bit different.
Also the demo tapes made before the debut album are a lot more krautrock influenced.
This one is like Hawkwind plus Neu!.

>the kind aura of importance prog has to have
That aura of importance is exactly everything that is wrong with prog music.

I guess that's way actual boomers can't into Porcupine Tree.

you aren't a true steven wilson fan until you read the femboy cat fanfic on ao3 about him

What's the deal with guys who go by "Steven?" I was just thinking about this coworker I used to have who asked for "Steve" on his nametag but always introduced himself as "Steven" on the phone. Fucking prick.

It's just that boomers have more money and they can afford tickets in the front row. When I've seen Steven Wilson it was mostly people around my age in the audience.
Also I think half of them listened to either The Raven or one of his remixes.
Some people prefer to be called by the name they got on birth, not a shorter version. Steve is more informal, depends on the context.
I'm on the same boat, but a different name.

>Steven John Wilson
>SJW

>Steven "I love Israel" Wilson
>Steven "There's something special about the first four Burzum albums" Wilson
>Steven "Roger Waters is clueless" Wilson
>Steven "had a Japanese waifu" Wilson
Quite a lad

Does anyone have some demo recordings of Porcupine Tree songs?

...

Does everyone on Yas Forums listen to queer indie shit?

Plenty do, but this is not queer indie shit, what do you mean?

This. Porcupine Tree peaked early. Then they turned into a nu metal band for shekels, and people wonder why they were shit.

Reminder that the >recordings version of Even Less is better than the one from the SD.

>the kind aura of importance prog has to have
lolwut?
Most Genesis songs were silly and frivolous.
Jethro Tull satirised the whole concept of prog rock.
Caravan were basically a joke band.
There are many other examples.

The heavier albums are good, though, can't see the similarity with nu metal.

>for shekels
what shekels you fucking idiot
porcupine tree weren't even remotely financially successful until about 2 years before they split and never had a radio hit

One of the worst PT albums, for sure. So naturally it's the one all the normies own.

Because nu metal was in vogue at the time.
The fact that they didn't succeed doesn't mean they weren't trying. Learn to logic, fool.

Literally no one bought Stupid Dream and it is less popular than every single one of the 5 albums that followed it
Once again you have no idea what you're talking about

>Learn to logic, fool.
2007 called, it wants its vernacular back

What normie listenes to Stupid Dream? It's always In Absentia, Deadwing or Fear of a Blank Planet.
If anything, this one is one of the most underrated album. It wasn't loved by many of the band's initial fans, as it was too pop, it sure wasn't loved by the new fans they got with In Absentia because is not heavy enough.
Nu metal has rap, funk influences, basically nigger music with heavy riffs. I don't hear that in Porcupine Tree.
