Hey bros, its cassette time ;)
where my cassette bros at?
That even oxen was a great recommendation. What else the cassette bros got?
who tape loop artisan here? been lately into looping and getting real crusty textures, its a lovely sound, everytime, no downs.
What's your favorite album there?
Steely Dan Countdown to Exctacy
Any recommendations for a good relatively modern cassette player? I’ve been wanting to get into collecting them and actually already have some just no way to listen to them.
how do you do it with cassettes? wheever I tried I get the slack wrong
i like better free running loops. but for cassette loops watch the amulets tutorial its really simple.
I haven't messed around with loops in a couple months, but once I have a bit more time on my hands I plan on trying some more stuff
this but yeah the slack is really finicky. Really the only thing you can do start a bit too loose, try it, cut a tiny bit, retape, and try again until you get it
>slack is really finicky
it shouldnt matter. the capstan does all the job. thats why free running tape works great, you dont need tape tension, but proper capstan and pinch roller action.
Cassettes 4Ever
These are all based except for the Earl one
real redpill coming through:
type 1 sound based and brown and rich and mellow
type 2 sound bottomless and a bit shrill, high pitched "glassy" hiss is a bad thing
type 3 a weirdo
type 4 is good but distorts cringely
type 1 4 lyfe
>tfw all my cassette players have worn out belts
>yfw ebay sells whole sets of belts for a dime
like a collection of fucking belts fo
yeah but the players are hard to take apart and i'm worried i'll break them
Nah that Earl album is one of my faves
The earl one is the best one there though
What's a good cassette player for a decent price? I know nothing but have a few dozen cassettes my dad gave me and would like to listen to them.
just go find one on amazon they're like 20 bucks
I an under the impression that there are some that are better than others though, no? I don't want to just get a shit one for cheap. Though if it is as simple as that and not as autistic as other forms of media then so be it.
all cassette players are shit haha
It doesn't matter if you're buying new. There's only one mechanism still made and it's reportedly junk.
wtf you guys are aggressively useless.
better than a new one thatll be plain and shitty and plastic get some old consumer deck. this is a sony, but you can get teac, akai, they made a bunch of stuff thats very similar and straight to the point. theyre fully mechanical, heavy, wood finish, its a nice experience. you can get these on ebay for pennies, or thriftstores almost free.
the belts are almost always worn out and don't work properly and they're a pain in the ass to fix, some aren't even user serviceable so they're just garbage.
Thanks for the reply, user.
you test them, and since theyre big and simple inside, you just open them and change the fucking 0.2 belt. holy shit, a man has to know how to fix shit, its like natural, are you impaired, dude? do you fear basic electronics?
it's not that easy to fix when the circuit board is fucking soldered to the tape mechanism
Have never seen this in old decks and cant remember any walkman or hand recorders being like this. Mechanisms are usually screwed in because applied heat might bend them, you must have seen some lousy design. Anyway, your choice.
i have multiple hand recorders that are like this. i guess general electric is just a shitty brand since they're mostly from that.
Lmao never bothered with GE theyre ugly equipment, not even touching it.
