Absolutely new to production and FL studio, to what extent should I categorize my channels/tracks? Should each individual channel be given it's own track, or do I just place two or more channels in a track if I want them both to have the same effects added when in mixing?
Simultaneously learning guitar and piano to become an actual musician, right now I just make instrumentals on my laptop. What can I do when I'm away from my instruments to become a better player?

the structure on the second one is good, the break work is good too. i dont think the sound choices match the breaks tho. also the supporting percs and the one arp in the middle dont match as well
here's my track clyp.it/vafwk41n looking for feedback on the mix, sound design, and progression

Who here /samplechad/? Digging for records to find grooves and loops is an absolute joy. You discover so much music that way.
I have been producing for a while, but honestly every time i try to mix and master i feel like im missing a chromosome. Any advice user's ive watched the videos from the pastebin but i dont feel like thats enough.

>learn all your basic stock daw mixing plugins inside and out (master the basics) >use reference tracks >when in doubt turn it down

I thought I recognized the first half and then the second convinced me I was being trolled lmao
if that wasn't your intention and this is just something you've accepted is derivative- I didn't care for the staccato transition and the pizzicato section is significantly less engaging than the first

Honestly this, but after a few years you'll usually get an ear for it without studying any mixing vids, but for sure watch vids on mixing and make a simple small track that you can mix along with the person giving the tutorial. I made the mistake of being too hardheaded to listen for 15 mins so it took me a while to get a hang of mixing track after 5 years.
There are multiple ways to get it to sound that way, It sounds like a triangle or square with flange, or it could be achieved with a vocoder and a pan tool. but the perfected method is to play a really high note, hit record and put your mouth on your speaker then open and close you mouth slowly in an "o" shape

No I only make trap beats too I'm just kind of tired of it It's a very frustrating genre because it somehow feels like it's both extremely limited and like it hasn't reached its full potential yet at the same time Die Lit, Jesus Is King, and the Yandhi leaks for example prove how good it could be and I think are great examples of how it could evolve but its hard to replicate Wait here's some more examples
first two are audibly boom-bap turned trap guys- the music could easily fit on a different beat kitt katt is definitely not just trap, it just uses a similar palette
Kanye is fucking kanye- it's rhythmically the same shit but the music is fucking amazing I don't think the drake beat is really out there at all
slave name is god damn amazing actually wtf when I downloaded the initial leaks the version I got was potato quality wtf replying to this shit seriously you know damn well most people who talk about sampling here are throwing beats on loops regardless
>you know damn well most people who talk about sampling here are throwing beats on loops regardless judging something by its laziest possible incarnation is poor form. but also completely typical of Yas Forums
Bentley Sanders
>laziest possible incarnation it's not just the laziest, it's the most common by far. I'm sorry you make super high effort plunderphonics or some shit and feel discriminated against but that's what sampling means to most people
