These two legends mean more to Gen Z, than Kurt Cobain meant to Gen X

What about the boomers with Elvis and the Beatles

they have 3 good songs combined and eilish will be forgotten in 5 years max

That's your opinion, zoomer.

No they don't. And Billie Eilish is just ripping off Lorde.

Boomers wern't going through anything close to what Gen Z is currently going through.

Lorde wasn't a self-made bedroom pop artist. Her family was literally rich.

Do they?

Cringe

And Lorde was just ripping off Lana

Yes.

Gen Xers listened to the radio and MTV because they barely had other options. Gen Z has free music on the internet so they could listen to whatever they want and completely ignore thee people.

and Billie's family literally already worked in the industry

They did but they weren't successful. The mother's biggest role is video game voiceover work.

Her brother had just signed on with a manager when Billie recorded Ocean Eyes. Said manager heard it and most likely gave it to someone at Interscope, who posted it on their Hillydilly blog. Major label promotion from the start sounds like a plant to me.

This. The move from radio/MTV to music streaming entails that "rock legends" have become a thing of the past. Streaming means artists are much more disposable than they were 30 years ago.

Cringe

yet they chose to listen to them cause their music completely encapsulates growing up in a world of late stage capitalism. with income inequality at an all time high. knowing climate change will completely fuck up the worlds livability. school shootings a regular thing. knowing they are being spied on their information and internet habits sold. knowing they will never be as wealthy or have it as easy as their parents generation and they are completely aware and connected to all this through the internet. they have no hope for a better future. billie and x spoke to these people in way no one else could

>school shootings a regular thing
kek the absolute state of amerimutts

>knowing they will never be as wealthy or have it as easy as their parents generation
To be fair, this was the same with Gen X and Millennials, and arguably much more devastating. Gen X bore the blunt of neoliberalism sending jobs overseas and creating the conditions which lead to the 2008 collapse, during which Millennials were coming-of-age. Not to mention, Gen X reached their sexual peak right as the AIDS epidemic was raging (compare that to zoomer rappers bragging about fucking girls without a rubber). Most Gen Xers weren't able to get mortgages or union jobs.

Zoomers have it very easy compared to the two generations before.

>ever listening to top 40 shit
>ever
>ever considering top 40 shit to have a shred of integrity
>fucking ever
B-BUT SHE WROTE A SONG ABOUT A DREAM ABOUT HER BROTHER YOU WOULDNT UNDERSTAAAAAAAND THAT LEVEL OF DEPTH

See:

my dick is a legend to your mom lmao

You're giving Gen Z way too much credit. All the zoomers I know (I'm a 30-year old millennial) are politically apathetic. Compare that with millennials who participated in mass protests like Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, etc. during our early 20s.

i can assure you as a college student most people dont give a fuck about these two

wait what!? BASED!!!!!

the difference is those movements you mentioned were massive failures because the people in power could choose to ignore them. now that the entire system is falling apart due to climate change, economic collapse and coronavirus the system will have to give in. that's why zoomers matter tremendously, since they're the ones who decide whether or not the system goes on. x and billie's words will lead the way.

>those movements you mentioned were massive failures
Not really. Occupy is arguably what set the stage for Bernie Sanders' presidential runs, since discussion of social class was back on the menu. BLM had a lot of potential to become more radical and effective until it was taken over by SJWs instead of principled activists.

Either way, it doesn't make zoomers any more politically inclined. My perception is that zoomers just don't care about social issues and would rather party and sip lean or spend their parents' money on ridiculously expensive clothes like Supreme hoodies. No one back in the late 2000s/early 2010s would ever brag about how much their outfits cost.

If that’s the case then fucking jake Paul will be the voice of the generation after. Mainstream music is dead

At least X’s SoundCloud music was interesting.

i know more 30 year old roastie whores that like Eilish than I do zoomers who do

Why do you think that is?

And she's just a rip off VideoGameDunkry

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I wish you would announce being underage so you would be banned. I wish being underage was a perma-ban.

the used up roasties wish they were as free as the image she is portraying, probably.

Gen X went through way worse than both.

young people really have no clue how famous kurt was huh?
there is no comparison to a present day musician because pop culture is so saturated that you can’t have giants like him anymore
