The off-white cutlass with the black pickguard is pure sex

Fad or here to stay? Do they impact playability? Do they impact tone? Drop your thoughts anons.

I'm a 33 yo boomer. Have people started liking strats again?

they don't impact anything but look cool

no

i don't know if they're here to stay
they didn't impact my tone or play-ability in a noticeable way
they look cool and really accent figuring quite a bit

Good. They're fucking lame.

Wood can be fire hardened, which would presumably make the neck more resonant. But I wouldn't pay more for this, myself.

I've always felt like they're a lot smoother than satin finished necks when unfinished honestly.

what'er you all gonna buy with your trumpy fun bux? im eyeballing this qt

>tfw 1800 bucks

I fucking hate those bullying fags at Gibson but this is just something else.

they actually were smart back in the 80s and 90s, instead of suing the people that make these amazing guitars they hired them and started the Orville line. They were making better guitars than Gibson was at the time

Real answer: it's to crystallize pitch (sap) in the wood and to reduce flexibility but that's a bit redundant on a quartersawn neck. In that case it's for looks. But if its flamed like ebmm then roast is ok because figured maple is the least stable maple

This twang thang, with the correct pickups for that Great Gretsch Soundâ„¢

Yep, now those are what I call guitars.

that's an underage girl and she's so vapid that she only likes things that are immediately apparent as inoffensive and acceptable to maximize her chances of getting dicked by unusually attractive men twice her age

so no, she doesn't even know what any guitars are called but only likes the old ones because they won't put off any guys. and no man looking to get laid would ever say "no honey, gibsons are shit" if his girl pointed at a les paul and said "wow! pretty!"

Don't worry, when she turns 20 and those are at her knees she's going to be slobbering all over your ibanez.

It's basically the only guitar anyone uses now

That's depressing. Ugliest fucking thing ever made.

imagine getting mad at 15 year olds with better milkies than your wife
you should go practice

Fender style guitars are absolutely dominating in most mainstream genres right now. I almost never see anyone playing Les Pauls anymore.

is there a way to reduce low mids with mic placement? i always seem to record too much of that compared to the room sound

Yeah, because kids can't afford them lmao

>A good Strat: $500 used
>A good Les paul: $1500 used
No money left for danelectro pedals or the vox ac15 every kid has

And popular music can only be made by cash-strapped kids. Popular music is youth culture built around rebellion and pissing off your praents. If you're old, sophisticated, and tasteful, you can't make it. Your fellow adults won't know about you until you die and you're a quirky unknown vintage rocker.

>start learning guitar
>best guitar you can afford is a squier
>next guitar, get an MIM strat since you're used to playing it
>next guitar, get an MIA strat since you're used to playing it
>next guitar, get an MIA ultra strat or a suhr

fender won. it doesn't mean their high end guitars are any better than anyone elses, but whoever has the best cheap guitar wins. that first guitar you spend the most time with becomes the template for all your other guitars and they know it.

>start learning guitar
>best guitar you can afford is an epiphone

>quits
beat that, fender
