Lockdowns and local music venues

Is COVID 19 going go be the death of local music? The average small venue can barely keep itself going month for month when they're active but now even if lockdowns lift shit like concerts are going to be banned until there's a vaccine. This won't be as much of a problem for stadiums and larger venues but small little local punk bars and shit are going to go under hard without shows. This bums me out hard cuz I love my local scene and I'd hate to never get to see a local show ever again.

A lot of smaller venues aren't gonna survive this, especially if this goes into 2021. Same goes for small movie theaters and mom-and-pop shops and restaurants. It's a blackpill, but sadly inevitable. Welcome to the future.

The death of physical music and local culture was only a matter of time.

It's more than a flu, and millions will die in its wake. What I'm interested in is seeing just how much and in what ways society will change after this subsides, if this subsides. I've got a sick curiosity about seeing the results. I definitely see a whole new wave of hikikomori even after this is over with. Even the more extroverted among us bitching about lockdowns now will want to retreat to spending all their time online later. It's gonna be a real fascinating shitshow of a decade.

House shows will never die, but unfortunately larger venues will.

House shows really dont give a fuck about actually making a profit, but venues that are subject to regulations and need profits are dead now

>It's more than a flu, and millions will die in its wake.
So like a really bad flu then

it affects your penis and cum

Stop reading tabloids they're banking off your fear

like the spanish flu, but tenfolds worse ye

Literally stop listening to sensational journalism you fucking retard. Its not going to be Spanish flu tier. It primarily kills the extremely elderly and people with preexisting conditions

>B-BUT I HEARD A NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT A YOUNG PERSON WHO DIED

Outliers exist but they're fucking rare. The media focuses on them because they get more clicks than some geezer with lung cancer who died from it. Statistically if you're under 50 you're more likely to die from a car accident.

>B-BUT ITS GONNA MUTATE AND BECOME HECKIN STRONGER JUST LIKE SPANISH FLU

Coronavirus' evolve differently than influenza virus and tend to evolve to be less deadly. Literally where the fuck are you getting your news?

>Literally where the fuck are you getting your news?
Yas Forums, probably

I've noticed that righties usually tend to do extreme downplaying and denial about covid. Its liberals and lefties who think its the black death 2.0 usually. Anons more likely a redditor than a /po/tard

I honestly do not care. The music scene in Miami is just a combination of shit rappers, dj's, and cuban music.

Imagine being a reddit-fag.

anything based on money is trash. i like diy venues in peoples basements and hsit. who gives a shit about petit-bougeiousie small businesses

regardless of whether you like it or not, the world revolves around money. the existence of diy venues is predicated on bands that are sustained by the money that flows through venues. it's not a whole lot of money, but its enough to sustain regional tours for small-time bands.

DIY venues still need to pay rent

>millions
it's 2 orders of magnitude less so far

Our governments trusted Chinese data, spent two months acting like COVID was a non issue instead of coming up with a real plan, then taking the most brute force approach to dealing with this shit by forcing everybody to stay inside and tanking the economy, ruining millions of peoples livelihoods, locking victims in with their abusers, robbing kids of proper education and socialization, cancelling surgeries, basically uprooting the lives of so many citizens.

And it turns out the initial models our governments were using were extremely wrong. Our current rate of deaths is nowhere near those projected best-case-scenario hypotheticals, there's been less deaths. Most medical systems aren't even close to being overwhelmed outside of a few major cities in America. Hospitals are empty and have to lay off staff. More solid data comes out suggesting that this is only really a major threat to a small chunk of society and the majority of cases are literally "just the flu bro". And despite this some public officials are calling for stricter social distancing and increasing the lockdowns into next year.

How fucking mad at the general public going to be when they realized they've had their lives completely uprooted for some a mildly severe virus? We were told this was going to be Spanish flu 2.0 and now its looking like it'll be like Hong Kong flu at worst. I'm not even one of those people who thinks we should have done nothing because obviously its serious. But they overreacted and they're continuing to overreact.

And fuck the media for stoking this shit further and enabling virtue signalling bugmen to turn into moral crusaders and tattletales. This has been turned into a culture war issue thanks to them.

HG Wells said it best: There won't be any more concerts for about a million years.

Live music was one of the few things giving me joy in life and the it being gone is borderline rope tier for me

oh no! I won't be able to hear your faggot local bands and nod awkwardly to all the scene girls i've fucked who have also fucked the same group of 12 or so guys in the local scene oh noooo!

this sadly

>Is COVID 19 going go be the death of local music?
i hope so. local music scenes are toxic cesspools of talentless posers

This desu
The men are useless. The women are useless. Your vinyl collections are stupid and mark you as a consumer.

is there any hope for upcoming bands to get gigs post-COVID? I live near a ton of venues, so is there a chance at least a few will take a chance on new talent?

>>Mfw we destroy millions of livelihoods and our culture over a really bad flu

A really bad flu killed 50 million people and infected 500 million people in 1918. Those people definitely would've preferred months without work compared to the alternative.

Obviously this wouldn't be that bad even if we did nothing, but it'd still be really bad and cripple most of the economy anyway

itll become an underground illegal thing again and will be a fucking blast. its good in the end.

Its literally nowhere near as bad as Spanish flu. I'm not advocating for doing nothing but I think its fair to say we jumped the gun quite a bit

Ignore everything viruscucks say.

lmao who cares local bands always suck
about time something came along and forced these pretenders to give up the dream

you have no idea what you are talking about, 1918 influenza pandemic was H1N1, covid 19 is twice as contagious and and way more deadly, hospitalization rate for influenza is 2%, hospitalization rate for covid 19 is 20%

plz stop talking shit

> Most medical systems aren't even close to being overwhelmed outside of a few major cities in America. Hospitals are empty and have to lay off staff

oh god another one, you have no idea what you are talking about, hospitals are closing and laying people off because of budgetary constraints you fucking moron

i happened to have a n95 mask and went out today to buy a bunch of shit. its quite amazing how it all looks like a fucking joke, the people, everything, everyone with their retarded felt masks, some with homemade stuff, everyone pretending theres this "virus". no one has seen someone ill by this virus, people who have died by cardiac arrest after a lifetime of cardiac issues been labeled as "coronavirus diseased". you cant prove this fucking thing exists, i want this circus to end already, i need to work, this is an absolute lunacy and people have been primed for this retardness with the internet alone.
you have no proof for any of that. you havent ever seen a "coronavirus" patient, youre spewing what the news said, nothing else.

another propaganda victim

same and yikes
