Writing music

>writing music
>all my lyrics are pure cringe material

How do I write better lyrics that don't make my skin crawl when I read them back?

post example

write louder

self awareness is a good thing with lyrics. Spend more time reading and eventually it'll just work out naturally

Just plagiarize other person's poetry like Morrissey

don't make them personal. go abstract.

make some word salad rap and pretend to be enlightened

Most artists cringe at their music they're just confident about it

Lyrics can be shitty if the music backing it up is good.
But you could read more, I guess.

post them here so we can give you constructive criticism after we make fun of you

kek

less emotional more abstract

Just write a shit ton of songs and focus on getting it better each time. Also, reading good poetry and books

Read through the lyrics of a bunch of songs you like. Both so you can pick some things up and also you'll probably notice a lot of lyrics are really cringe out of context, but mixed with the other elements of the song they sound amazing

1. analyze what makes something good
2. copy it until you make it your own
3. add your own flavor to it
4. go beyond what you learned, make it better

bury your feelings under metaphors, images, abstractions, strange connotations, and maybe have one or two lines that make cohesive sense that can allow the listener to form their own thoughts on what you’ve written

>writing music
>my lyri--
Stop right there, the content of lyrics is not music
Show us your sheets

You have to have something you want to say, not just words that rhyme and get slapped over some music

>How do I get better at something?
By doing it more.

>tfw have absolutely nothing to say in my lyrics because nothing interesting has ever happened in my life

OP here, here's something i came up with yesterday please don't make fun of me

When the pity spins your mind
Darkness fills your heart
And I won't be around
When you're feeling all alone
Then you'll know it's time
To go into the ground
When the pity spins your mind
Darkness fills your heart
And I won't be around

It’s a constant struggle. I mean, most of my favorite song writers have very confessional styles and reveal a lot of personal details, I admire that about them. I imagine that they’re all cringing at themselves but they push through it and grow from it.

AHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Why do I feel like you tried to just rework the song Nights That Won’t Happen by Purple Mountains? This isn’t bad though
