Why is country music the only music I can stand today? I used to be into all kinds of music, both popular and experimental...

You're a faggot with a cowboy fetish maybe?

Because you live in some hicktown

I think cowboys are cool, but I'm no degenerate. So I'll answer no on that question.

To you Americans maybe. My city's the second biggest in my country.

Because you crave what is simple and right and perfect

Could be. Music's so complicated and dissonant nowadays. Thank you.

im deep in some schubert atm but I keeps a foot never far from the country music shit hole
country is way underrated here. the instrumentalists are always great and i find i find the words fascinating as a study of the struggles of working class people in 20th century ie muh hoes and money

Ernest Tubb always kept a killer band

youtube.com/watch?v=vA6ZGFl3QLo

For me, it was Terry Allens seminal body of work that makes country music truly modern and cool , not post modern crap Lol

Thanks for those clips. Tubb was new to me. You're right, for how simple the music is the musicians seems to have a real high standard.

>To you Americans maybe. My city's the second biggest in my country.
Ohhhh, you should have lead with this!
Europeans love cowboys. Asians love cowboys. Africans love cowboys. Latin Americans love cowboys. I don’t get why, but cowboys are one of America’s best cultural exports. In all parts of the world there are people who larp as cowboys

But Americans don't? You used to right? What about all those western films with John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, the list goes on...

Your traumatic experiences have regressed you into a dull, dry, stupid person and your music preferences changed accordingly to it

Pop country like Florida Georgia Line is still very big in certain parts of the country, and pop country is horrible so it has kind of hurt the genre's image.

>florida georgia line
that's bro country wigger shit not real cowboys

I consider folk music most interesting. From all over the world. Just think Americans invented rock n roll and our audio pioneers

The programming is wearing off.

That's kind of accurate. Used to party and do lots of drugs. Now I'm straightening my life out and I'm kind of a loner because of it.

Atrocious.

So good.

Everyone loves USA eve countries atom bombed. Glenn Miller! Jerry Lewis! Howard Duck!

classic self-obsessed american

Tubb is one of the most respected figures in country music not just for his music (everyone including himself will admit his baritone was charming but flat) but for his role in helping countless young aspiring performer get a foothold in the burgeoning Nashville music industry.

he got his start like most at that impersonating the original singing cowboy (actually a railroad brakeman) Jimmie Rodgers

Bob Wills was a drunken genius. He took Jimmie Rodgers songs and made them into full band arrangements - Big Band even. The king of "Western Swing" he's one of those artists whose music lives at the beautiful and often unnoticed intersection of Country and Jazz (others are Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson, Tony Rice)

Poor Tammy kinda gets lost in the fray with female legends, since she died young but not "tragically young" like in her 20s or 30s. Someone posted this cover when Kenny Rogers died, fantastic

That’s a great album. I agree with OP and mostly listen country/folk now days. Simple but good.

plus her star was always hitched (even when she wasnt) to the big man George Jones

I'm okay with that though since it made her (and his too desu) songs more sad and tragic. They're STILL the president and first lady to me *fires shotgun*

I grew up as a metalhead but older I get pretty much all I listen to is acoustic music now. Been obsessed with Blaze Foley, Townes, Prine lately.

never really bought into the jones wynette drama so i never really got the hype on this song but this is a really nice performance (might even be expertly lip synced not sure)

also a lil deep cut on the subject one of jones few writing credits (along with wynette and jones future ex husband in law)

check out this album or michael hurley in general. Holy modal rounders basically invented acid folk (devandra banhart basically impersonates hurley) but Hurleys brand is decidedly more earthly and country in nature
