Congratulations

Best MGMT album and one of the best of the decade

/thread

That album opened the doors for my love of music. Its crazy too think that 10 years ago I was in middle school and preordered this on itunes expecting electric feel 2galoo. It took me a month or so of dipping my toes in this album before I really got into it. After school everyday I busted out the ipod classic and would bmx at the skatepark to this.

10/10 no question

I'm gonna say it
LDA is better

No its not

IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE'S MISSING

based Congratulations bros

Love this album so much bros

Congratulations! Its actually aged pretty well all things considered. MGMT is still putting out decent music too!

This

They changed my life

no
it's working

What did he mean by this?

At least it's not Little Dark Age

Big time album. Its rare to find a group that's willing to challenege their audience to make something truly great, but mgmt delivered with congratulations while never compromising to suit their mainstream audience and I totally respect that

It’s honestly complete shit compared to great psych albums of past generations, however this whole century hasn’t been good for psych

LDA is 7.5, Congratulations is 8

Oracular Spectacular is 8.5
Congratulations is 7.5
MGMT is 6.5
LDA is 8.5

Oracular and LDA are 8/10
MGMT and Congratulations are 9/10

>he prefers mediocre psych compared to God-Tier Pop

You’re useless

If many of their influences and generations of musicians praise it as a great album then I’d say they made something great as well

I’ve never heard any of their influences describe Congratulations as a great album. Not Eno, not the dude from Television Personalities. Nobody lol. Only LDA, which is their best album bar none, has been praised by musicians I personally respect, but that doesn’t even matter

Have you ever listened to Rundgren?
Brian Jonestown Massacre?
Olivia Tremor Control?

If not, you should check out those bands.

Hello Congratulations by MGMT. Thank you for existing.

Yep. Song For Dan Treacy is a personal favorite

mediocre how

>Only LDA, which is their best album bar none
kek it's actually their worst album but whatever you say, kid

They don’t show and tell their praises, you have to look deep into articles to hear them mention them.
Kevin Shields is a fan and was at some of their shows at that time
Dan Bejar calls it one of the greatest rock albums of the century
Jenifer Herema from Royal Trux even appears on the album
Radiohead and Daft Punk are even fans of them
They have a lot of connections with people in the “underground” but don’t flaunt it because they’re good people

Siberian Breaks is good shit
