What's the point of "metal elitism"? Just genuinely enjoy it. Some people do you know, not all of us like it to be edgy or some shit. IRL being a metal fan gets you shit on by everyone else anyway, internet elitism is not a useful trait. Also if you weren't being yourself when you thought you were part of the "metal subculture" chances are you still aren't being yourself anyway with whatever you now identify with.
