love it

You know, as a Steely Dan fan, I've been meaning to check out this album...

antiwarhol gave it a 5

I like the songs IGY and New Frontier
The rest is alright but those are the best tracks

Perfect album in composition, arrangement, production and performance. What separated Fagen (and Becker with Dan) from their peers in the 70's was their ability to take inordinate compositional knowledge and apply it to a pop format, paired with an impressive technical mastery (both their own and with the players they brought in). This album in particular demonstrates all of that on top of a charmingly autobiographical sense of storytelling, wit and honesty. Great album

Good album. One of the albums that you would call "why wouldnt you like it? Its pretty good."

Seconded

Just listened to it for the first time. The production is phenomenal, and it is just groovy and chill. I love it

Thoughts? Are you for real?

Thank you for your thoughts

feed nana

New Frontier slaps
Hope yall have your bunkers ready.

What are you waiting for? If Walter Becker was there it'd be Steely Dan's second best album.

>anime poster
seethe and kys in that order. dumbass.

What's their first in your opinion
for me, its Gaucho

imo it's Aja
Gaucho fans will like Nightfly better because of its production

Between Nightfly and Aja is difficult because Aja is so iconic. I love Nightfly but I don't thank I would rank it higher than Aja, despite being a Gaucho fan.

It sounds like a parody of what people who hate Steely Dan think they sound like

? What does this even mean.

i think he means it's *too* smooth and not enough guitar solos

I love the smooth production personally. Their more rock stuff like Can't Buy a Thrill and Royal Scam are cool too though.

Proof that perfectionism more often results in soulless muzak than inspired genius

Yeah, but Nightfly's writing is brilliant. Your description is closer to newer Dan.

Instead of using buzzwords, would you mind explaining what exactly makes Nightfly sound "soulless" to you?

I like Nightfly but find Gaucho too sterile am i fuckd

give gaucho a relisten on a good sound system while smoking weed
