Overall, one of the worst, if not the worst, groups on this board. Even /kpop/ is better than us, because they stay in one thread, don't flood the board, and are more of a community than we ever have been. We need to come together to work towards a brighter future for all Yas Forumssicians. Theres a lot of problems that can all be fixed.
Some of the problems include:
Spamming threads
Not interacting with each other
Inability to take criticism
And so much more
We need to come together to agree on a solution for the better of mu as a whole. There are a couple suggestions I have to improve the experience for all of us.
1) Remove /shill/ entirely. We only need /Feedback/ because it makes logical sense. Shill is a ghetto cheap version of feedback that promotes this lazy vision of just copypasting your link with no interaction. If we only did /Feedback/, it would promote good habits like interaction and criticism.
2) Limit our threads. Whether a new rule is enforced our not, we need to limit our threads to (at maximum) 1 a day. Theres no sense in making 30 threads in a week, we could have just 7 or even 1 thread and make it last the whole week, that way, everyone's music is shown off, regardless of schedule limitations. It allows more musician exploration and limits spam.
3) Finally, we need to collectively accept we aren't perfect. Too many of us are unable to comprehend that our music is not perfect. We all need to just accept we're still growing as artists, and that critiques shouldn't be taken as personal attacks.
I hope we are able to come together for the better of ourselves and Yas Forums as a whole.
We need to talk about /shills/

Honestly, mu artists are in a shitter right now. I hate seeing 10 sound cloud threads a day with the exact same people starting them and the exact same people in them. It's a waste of space and we should only a weekly thread that's stickied. Cut back on spam instantly
as a Yas Forumssician I agree, bump
Man if you think there's no SC community then you do just shill.
There's not one of meaning. If there is any, it's always one of 2 things: A circlejerk and boosting plays artificially. I hate /shill/ because it promotes bad habits.
I started a feedback thread and it got archived because no one actually wants feedback.
no one looks at the title of the thread dude, it doesn't matter what you call it. Different titles are just an excuse to post the same thread multiple times.
/shill/ means nothing. I've probably posted in dozens and never once realized I was posting in /shill/
And in those I'll still leave plenty of PLENTY of feedback, it's entirely the users, and it's always been that way, not just in recent years, since soundcloud threads were a thing. It's usually the dudes who make beats.
The only thing that shouldn't exist are those stupid ass spotify playlist threads. They do NOTHING.
Soundcloud threads at least promote discussion.
soundcloud really clashes with the philosophy of not talking about Yas Forums outside of Yas Forums which i know is something not everyone takes seriously including myself but there are good reasons not to. its hard to celebrate Yas Forumssicians because these days anyone can look into the archive and fine the person your talking about and that you did infact find them because they were shilling here and even though thats more work than most people are willing to do its also the reason why posting your music here these days is the opposite of going viral. infact it makes it pretty much impossible to have any kind of momentum behind your music, once you shill here its basically assured you will never get very much traffic. obviously the way to be successful is to allude to Yas Forums but not actually post your music here so everyone knows you're talking about Yas Forums but there is no concrete evidence i.e. having some japanese cartoons all over your bandcamp and soundcloud that basically screams i've been to the chons
no it's because the thread was entirely focused around your cheesy windows movie maker lyric video with a subtext of 'also post if you want feedback as long as my content is the focus'
You're not as active in the threads as me im assuming, because people do pay attention to the thread titles and use them as an excuse. Why do you think anytime a /Feedback/ thread is made it dies insanely quickly? If people don't care about the title, then when called it, people use the excuse "well this is a shill thread so i don't need to give feedback."
I agree, i was one of the anons complaining about this in /shill/. I don't care if the name is /shill/, i think it's funny. because in the end, we're all shills. But everyone is posting in the thread, thinking they're gonna /make it/ by spamming the same links over and over. What actually helps built an audience is to be involved in a community. I run a successful youtube channel, and the way i was able to get millions of views was by starting with a small community. Once you have stable viewership, the algorithm gives you a boost. Unstable inconsistent shilling doesn't help.
Reddit is good for community building and they have a good shilling community. But i don't want feedback from reddit because they're faggots. I want feedback from anons because this is the community i've been apart of for years, and I've built alot of my taste from being involved on Yas Forums.
I think there should be a rule that everyone posting in shill must give at least one comment on another track. And if someone doesn't post feedback or contribute in any way, then ignore them, and don't reply to them. they will eventually lose hope like all the other shills. But if we all reply to each other, then it'll actually do something. if there's a community of 300 anons who all know each other, and all listen to each other's shit, that would actually do something. Getting 1 or 2 plays from shilling is a waste of everyone's times.
Also, stop making threads every 5 seconds. We need ONE thread until it reaches the limit. five threads only means more shills and less involvement.
This is logical except most people are just gonna circle jerk the same artists they always do and know because they’ve been doing it for years together
I wholeheartedly agree. People don't understand consistent plays >>>>>> alot of plays.
This is true, the only way to really improve is to completely get rid of the thing that makes lazyposting possible.
>rec
Its the biggest copout in history. It allows. Someone to circlejerk with no effort and it does nothing for anyone. You don't Even have to listen to someone to rec them. Its a useless tool in /shill/
Maybe. But if shillgen were more concentrated around a smaller group of people who know each other that would be better than a bunch of people posting past eachother and a few circlejerks here and there. the point is to be able to build a larger circlejerk, with hopefully some constructive criticism but we cross that bridge when we get to it.
We should draft a copypasta, to post on /feedback/ with rules? this will encourage people to make them, or else no one else will.
I like this idea. A giant copypasta to serve as guidelines for the threads to reinforce the ideas for a good community. If someones willing to draft, I'm willing to post
This is an older album that I made and remastered recently. It's a concept album based on a utopian domed society. The music is kinda lame but I feel it fits nicely with the story.

>New Age / Smooth Jazz / Cult
lmao
You're the exact reason why shilling in threads other than /shill/ should be a banable offense
Welcome to /feedback/
This thread is to post your work and GIVE AND RECEIVE feedback, criticism, and comments from other Yas Forumssicians.
Quick guidelines:
1. Post a link to ONE track, and if you want, a description. Don't spam your EP, playlist or 20 links.
2. Give feedback to AT LEAST one other person in this thread. NO "recc". Give actual, specific feedback.
3. If you shill and leave without posting feedback, you will be ignored.
Try to follow each other and like each other's works. The best way to get plays is by building a community. Ignore lazyposting shills, and have fun!
other anons can edit this if need.
It was supposed to be a joke lol
>The best way to get plays is by building a community
you're right, but everyone's shit sucks. I've gone in from time to time to check if anything good is in there. it's literally all garbage.
however, I do have some constructive advice which is you guys should all work together to make something like the Yas Forums makes and album threads except work on making it not shit. then you can release shit on a compilation album on bandcamp and share attention. however you have to have quality control and someone has to decide. that's obviously hard to do user, but basically someone with balls will just choose and the rest will have to suck it. yes one guy will do most of the work, but it's the only way you will succeed using your community model there.
not part of the threads but just two cents
>dude no it was a joke i was only playing
>but heres my link just in caseee but it was a joke lol idiot
i agree that alot of people's shit sucks. most people aren't going to /makeit/. But i've seen some genuinely talented people in shill threads. those are the people who are posting feedback and getting feedback. The people who are involved tend to be the people who make good shit. we could all legitimately grow as artists if we all helped each other and gave each other criticism. the shills who post a bunch of links and leave suck, sure. but even if its a community of musicians who suck, at least we'll get consistent plays and get something out of it in the end.
How the fuck is an anonymous forum going to accept a captain
>Started a feedback thread
No, you just putted your shitty music and asked for feedback.
That's just being dumb.
honestly within the threads we could have little contests in the vein of Yas Forums's AOTY. we could all put song submissions and vote on "artist of the week" or some shit. we should do whatever to try to promote a little community. might be faggy but whatever
Bump
because people are lazy and if one guy does all the work, everyone else is like damn good job mate and it gets the ball rolling. seen it a couple other times on other boards.
