It's debatable. Kurt was (lowkey due to prevalent homophobia/toxic masculinity in the era) a bisexual/queer - but he has dated men and expressed attraction/love. As he said: "I'm not a homosexual but I wish I was one so that I can piss off the homophobes"

Kurt being Trans however is extremely debatable and doesn't have a basis for an absolute confirmation. He was definitely into crossdressing as confirmed by those photos, drag, had an effeminite side as well.

From what I recall/read; there were hints during the making of In Utero and in its lyrics that can be interperated as Kurt having gender dysphoria or being a transwoman. You would have to autistically piece together interviews, journals and biographies to truly figure it out. I'm not super inversed on kurt's life myself (yet)
