ITT: Genres that shouldn't class as music
experimental can be anything, you gotta give that a pass
noise gets a pass only as a part of something - noise rock, industrial
agree with ambient wholeheartedly

Musique concrète, field recordings, spoken word, noise

Rap
Filtered
Whatever, it isn't music.
>NOOO YOU CANT NOT LIKE SHITTY THIRD RATE "MUSIC"!!!
>FILTERED!!!
rap, country, heavy metal, classic rock
OMG MY 3 FAVORITE GENRES
Imagine being filtered by ambient.
Why does the distinction between non-music and music even matter
if what you say is true OP, then music fucking sucks
"Emo-Pop"
Music = harmony + melody + rhythm
If you can't connect the dots without them being spelled out to you in 4/4 major scale triads then you're fucking retarded
>pop

>Music = harmony + melody + rhythm
Concrete music and field recordings don't have those.
rap
art doesn't mean anything specific by definition. music doesn't mean anything specific by definition. everything is art and everything is music. get with it
Both musique concrete and field recordings either have
A. Disjoint rhythm produced from the nature of recording
B. A single rhythm, essentially one very long whole note
Both are perfectly valid explorations of the medium, having one solid rhythm is compositionally not very different from just repeating a short rhythm over and over
/Thread
is Scat porn art?
Imagine being so insecure in your inability to enjoy unconventional music that you make a whole thread crying about it
So literally all noise is music. Gotcha.
>Imagine being so insecure in your inability to enjoy unconventional music that you make a whole thread crying about it
>imagine being even more insecure to the point where you reply to said thread
If it reflects a state of being, and elicits a response from it's consumers, why would it not be?
Why are there categories for anything? Everything is just atoms.
Non argument. Merzbow has established both critical and popular acclaim making literal noise, and the validity of the art form is even more evidenced by the fact that his most popular albums are also his shittiest and most basic, same as within every other genre
Edgy
What the fuck are you even saying? The fact is that if field recordings and spoken word are music, then everything we hear is music. We're all listening to music 24/7.
