Why do young people not like classical music or operas...

Why do young people not like classical music or operas? Whenever I go to concerts of popular philharmonics the majority of viewers are elderly people.

>Why do people born 20 years ago not like music made over 80 years ago?

immaturity mostly, some will grow into it eventually

>you have to listen to new music
>old music is obsolete
>I believe in linear progress in the arts
>I'm a technophile

Yeah because all the classical music lovers were raised with this music when it came out 200 years ago. What an argument why young people don't like it.

Because young people don't have 1% of the attention span required to listen to classical music. They want something easy to digest; short, repetitive, rhythmically stable and tribalistic, simplistic, no musical development and nothing harmonically advanced. Come to think about it, 90% of people don't want that.

The only classical musician well-suited to modern tastes is Beethoven.

They do. You saw them onstage.

Boomers are who turned away from classical and dislike it most, zoomers are cool with classical

>zoomers are cool with classical
The first part is true but that is not
Normalfags are generally too stupid or tonedeaf to care about art music

It's because most likely they've never been exposed to classical music/opera. Most people who enjoy classical music is because they listened to it early in their lifes.

Either that or they are physically incapable of having the attention spam required to it.

Normal young people want music that they can dance to. I'm sure that a lot of classical music was dance music 300 years ago but it ain't it today.

Older people have lower back problems so they get into music that you just sit to while smoking a pipe.

Most i've met are pretty receptive to beethoven
Aside from a few outliersn they won't actively seek it out, but they won't throw a fit when they hear it, like boomers do. In fact they kind of like it

>they won't throw a fit when they hear it, like boomers do.
Who are these boomers that are throwing fits at classical music?

Is this a legitimate argument?

ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN!

you're retarded
it's because old people listened to classical when they were young. classical is the only genre that hasn't changed in hundreds of years

no one brought their kids while their hair wasn't gray

It's not so much an argument as it is an explanation. Most music is meant to be danced to.

>old people listened to classical when they were young.
wtf are you on about they listened to jazz and classic rock, beethoven wasn't topping the billboard charts in the 1960s

>Most music is meant to be danced to.
Its literally not though, music is meant to be listened to without distraction and focused

its one of those things you grow into
I know young people into classical music who, like me, grew up with it. maybe they played piano/violin, or their parents were into it; I used to fall asleep to Vivaldi

otherwise (and even above doesnt guarantee liking classical) I legit believe a maturing brain leads to an appreciation of different things

And those elderly people grew up listening to rock and jazz anyways, lol you could've made this same thread about those same people 60 years ago

except for all of the dance music?

Many reasons, notably the fact that there's all the boomer (seriously, they come about around the time of the boomers) rules of etiquette. I've taken to showing up to concerts in a shirt and jeans and it doesn't take anything away from my excitement.

>classical is the only genre that hasn't changed in hundreds of years
What the actual fuck.

>music is meant to be listened to without distraction and focused
That's never been the case, generally speaking. People go to movie theaters to watch movies, they don't get into an isolation tank at the music/isolation tank store at a shopping mall to listen to music.

You might have a few autistic producers that do micro-dose LSD and step into a isolation tank to listen to their tracks but most people are just passively listening to music as the soundtrack to a movie or video games, or it's something that they dance to.

That's background music retard, its same thing you wouldnt leave a film on in the background, you'd sit down in a dark room and focus on it. film soundtracks are meant for films but if you want to listen properly to the soundtrack you would listen to it separately

Barenboim making videos was utterly based.

I'm a zoomer and i like to listen to an opera and similar shit here and there but fuck imagine listening to that longer than 20 minutes you gotta be a whole ass clown faggot

But there has been plenty of classical music meant to be danced to

poor bait

it's not bait lol you just can't take that music seriously if you're not a lame boomer
