Better than is this it

Not even trolling. Think about it, is this it had catchy but incredibly safe and inoffensive songs thapt basically ripped off all their contemporaries. And every song is a carbon copy (how many times is julian just gonna use only 2 chords for his verses.) The entire album rips off tvu anyway. The new abnormal however is like the new prog rock. But for people who get laid. Listen to those chord changes and the heavier use of dissonant relationships between succeeding tones in songs like ode to mets or hell even bad decisions. This is the most forward thinking album ive ever heard. And the lyrics are so much better than the boring whininess of is this it.
>cant you see im trying i dont even like...
Shut up whitey. Go listen to mineral or something

> I’m staying hungry
> Not getting angry
> I’m staying hungry

>stockholders
So many memorable lyrics and moments

this is definitely the weakest song of the album but i still can’t get it out of my head, this shows how good this album is

Its top3 in the record, get outta here. Weakest is Bad desisions.

>criticising Is This Is for being derivative
>praising the new album that begins with a Reptillia knock-off, closes with a Bad Romance rip-off and "HOMAGES" Billy Idol on Bad Decisions to the extent that they credited him and generally relies on the same familiar chord progressions and song themes as their debut
what did he mean by this

I have no idea how bad decisions is weak. That intro, chorus, and outro is fucking great

>catchy but incredibly safe and inoffensive songs t
You probably didn't have pubic hair when Strokes came around. You're missing all of the context of their music
In 2004 it was pop shit, suburban, bullshit. Jay-Z was edgy then. Strokes did cocaine and drank and hung out in shithole NYC. It was very different. Rock was considered kitsch or was fucking faggot emocore garbage. Fucking dudes wore women's jeans and cried at shows and kissed boys to get attention. It was fucking horrible. Strokes was like... Okay fuck finally rock music that isn't so serious and brooding literally gay screamo bullshit. Rock with a modest 6" dick, which was a major revolution vs what was essentially sexless angst garbage or mentally retarded pop punk le blink 182 "I miss you" lmao Jack Skelton Myspace FAGGOT SHIT

The bridge part is the coomworthy part for me.

Lmao based as all fuck

What part is the bridge im actually kinda stupid

the part (usually but not exclusively instrumental) that doesnt resemble verses or the chorus and lies roughly in the middle of the song to transition into a final finish verse/chorus you mong

Well i was born in 1995... so maybe you have a point. Look the songs are good (esp barely legal, modern age, hard to explain) but it just seems somewhat passive now ya know?

> Skull fuck me?
> SKULL FUCK YOU
Julian already peaked lyrically but there are some gems in this one ngl

I understand but there is a point where making music that is neither pretentious or silly and allows people to dance and *get laid* is way more powerful than something like the 4th wave of punk+hip-hop+electronic Death Grips mega-online gimmick garbage that makes your dick shrink and pussy dry up at the very thought of it. In the end every edgy thing in rock is just window dressing or mental illness garbage if there isn't a foundation of hooks and a good beat. Strokes had hooks and good looking people could dance to it

Where he says yeeeeeeahhhhAaaaHhhaaaa yeahhhhAAah and reaches up into his higher vocal register

you sure bro

read meet me in the bathroom, I born in 1998 but I totally get what the other user means thanks to that book

Bonus: it's those types of musical moments that allow us to have a much more tolerable mainstream

Good suggestion although that book kind of made me hate everyone in that scene (especially lcd) including the strokes but I still appreciate the music. Bunch of rich kids and assholes.
Did you read Please Kill Me? That's the NYC era I romanticize

Jesus fucking Christ. What an embarrassing post. People like you make me hate music.

Lol you're a fag

Hmm sounds like a good read. I already hate most of them anyway. Still made good music. Hows Interpol come out?

Anyone other patrician's favorite track Why Are Sundays So Depressing?

and his voice sounds amazing. don't forget that.

Is This It is so overrated, people base their love of that album completely off nostalgia and the impact it had on music. When seeing the music for what it is, it's nowhere near as good as Room on Fire, and The New Abnormal is even better than both.

My favorite changes over time, every track here has something different to offer. I am currently at my Eternal summer phase.

I'm blasting it so everyone can hear it because sad people needs more of this

I was planning to read that one during quarantine because I really enjoyed the oral story format but I got mildly depressed and now I can’t focus on any book

The guy from lcd is a gigantic douche, it’s impossible not to hate him after reading the book. The strokes made me feel the opposite , they might have been spoiled rich kids but they seemed good hearted dummies to me

butthurt where?
What triggered you fag? the death grips part? he’s right tho

oops, this one was actually an answer to this one

I legit couldn't listen past the first 3 songs it's so fucking bad. The first track's MIDI drum loop for 5 fucking minutes got so fucking annoying.

BUH TA TA TA TSS x200

Autism

the best strokes album its shows their growth as artists

Yeah I know what you mean. At first Ode to the Mets was sleepy for me but after my last listen, I was engaged the whole time.

Wasn't he a music teacher? Only douchebags go into that line of work.

>I already hate most of them anyway. Still made good music. Hows Interpol come out?
They look like one of the more insane but also more annoying people in the scene. To me they are more honest about who they are, though so I don't know. One of the guys was really into chubby girls which I consider based

Agree. The strokes are definitely kind hearted but I was turned off by how competitive these bands were. Not very punk to be striving so hard but I guess that is what it takes

No gtfo with your relativism. That shit sucked. If you were there and don't agree you are clueless
