US easily

Germany

US makes better jazz, UK makes better rock

I would say the UK edges it overall as they had more important bands and more imitators (basically any band that isn't 'solo artist and backing band' or some instrumental ensemble exists to this day because of UK influence), though before the 60s and after the mid 80s, the US gets ahead as I don't think there's another invasion since the 80s.
literally where

It goes both ways. A lot of the most influential British bands were influenced by American music, and vice versa. It's hard to tell where it starts, but American influences on British music often goes overlooked because American bands don't tour the UK as often as UK bands tour the US

US for quantity
UK for quality

Nowadays? US. At other points in history it's easily been UK though.
t. Bong
idk, IMO jazz is one of the few areas UK is better at rn

Boybands were a Bong "invention", right? Not that I'd be particularly proud of that invention.

for me, it’s the perfect amalgamation of American and British influences

If you asked me 10 years ago I wouldn't know. UK has fallen behind however in the 2010s.

UK and it’s not even close

UK, but you can't deny the American influence. American music has way to much pop in it.

US is still barely clinging to the title IMHO. Also, you zoomed in a bit too far on that Australian flag. You didn't mean England did you?

Nothing good has come out of the UK since the 80s

Oi! What 'bout waysis, mate?

British music is imitation

Seems to me that the vast majority of the most skilled and successful jazz artists both in the past and nowadays are Americans. I know that the UK definitely has some very talented jazz artists, without a doubt, but the really big names still come from the US. But to me the US has been playing catchup to the UK in the quality of rock music for decades now.

between mid 60s and 80s UK easily but now both make such shit it doesnt matter

Rock isn't important or good though
Americans have contributed far more to Jazz and Classical which gives them the edge
Even Brazil has better music than the UK

music literally didnt exist until the beatles invented it

Mid 60s to 80s in the UK were just a bunch of white british kids ripping off old american black dudes who were ultimately superior artists but less marketable to white audiences.

uk is barely above lithuania

>more important bands
there's your problem.
Bands dont matter.
and anything rock and roll related UK has, american gave it to them.

America made an entire genre that still blows away the ethnics, it the most culturally dense thing the country has ever made.

This is just a dumb opinion. Rock was considered important by all the big jazz names and there's a reason jazz and rock have merged with each other in so many ways over the years.
You can tell American hands typed this because a Brit would have talked about white British kids ripping off old caribbean black dudes.

From someone thats from EU.
>70s-80s
UK
>90s-present

Good UK music is a rule. Good US music is an exception
