Why do boomers hate the idea of sampling and using DAWs so much? There are so many more possibilities than using standard instruments.
Why do boomers hate the idea of sampling and using DAWs so much...
Soulless
Samplers have been around for a long time dude
buzzword
Because they don't understand how to use new technology and they're bitter.
Yes, your post is soulless.
a lot of people hang on to the idea that music is meritocratic. using a DAW and sampling, you could make something as a beginner that would take an instrumental musician years of practice to be able to play. this makes people uncomfortable and angry
It's harder to create organic sounding music with DAW's and sequencers. Also boomers were there for synth pop and new wave which were the first forms of popular music to use quantization/sequencing and that was seen as gay and lame if you were into Aerosmith.
fuckin checked
Would you rather listen to text-to-speech or a real human voice?
Yeah, a REALLY long time.
Text to speech
It can be a blessing when done right (Avalanches, Kanye sometimes), but mostly it's just a single drum loop and a sample loop over some guy rapping, or the person makes an actual song but they have no talent when it comes to actually understanding music and/or playing instruments.
See the "-type beat" for the first example and basically any "oRcHeStRaL" music made in a DAW or Black MIDI video.
Also these: and
>See the "-type beat" for the first example and basically any "oRcHeStRaL" music made in a DAW or Black MIDI video.
*See "-type beat" instrumental hip hop for the first example and "oRcHeStRaL" music made in a DAW or Black MIDI for the second (Black MIDI as in the genre, not the band).
If I had to choose between Joanna Newsom and text to speech, I'd choose the computer.
Then it makes sense to enjoy DAWshit
You don't have to use the sequencer
people seem to always equate DAWs with entirely electronic music
but all live music is mastered using DAWs nowadays. chances are, if you just listen to old boomer-core rock on Spotify or wherever, it's most likely been remastered using a digital workstation
Yes, your post is yes, your post is soulless.
>Sampling
Because that's stealing.
I mean, I'm a late millennial/early zoomer (96 baby) but even I have to admit that a lot of the time when I realize the entire melody of a song has essentially been lifted from a previous one via the sample having a major place in the song it usually disappoints me. I recognize that there's a craft in combining songs and making it work but still.
People seem to always equate electronic music with bleeps and bloops
But all live music is performed using electronic devices nowadays. Chances are, if you go to a classical music concert, it's most likely being amplified through electronic means. And if you're listening to an mp3? Literally electronic music.
You can't be serious with the logic you are using.
Just because the means you are listening to are electronic, does not equate to it being electronic music.
>There are so many more possibilities than using standard instruments.
too bad they are never used
technically electronics are needed for nerve impulses for motor skills and movement, so literally all music, even primitive drumming on the skulls of your enemies, is electronic music
maybe I'm going to show what a dumbass I am asking this question...but isn't there a little bit of electricity in almost everything? Like using that logic singing can be counted as electronic music
Projection, mostly. Boomers like to act like playing rock guitar is this super challenging thing when in reality they picked it up as teens because it was easier and more fun than violin or piano and things like that. Now that they're older they want to act like they're carrying on the torch of instrumental skill.
Another aspect is that current generations are frankly much more technically capable on their instruments than the boomer generation were. There are IG guitarists in their 20s who can casually blow Hendrix out of the water in terms of technical skill. So boomers naturally want to try and pretend it's not real by acting like modern musicians only know how to use loops.
Hendrix was in his 20s. And most of what you said is true but the boomer who'd make this statement would only get a glimpse of mainstream music...which is weak electronic/daw music imo.
just combine the two it’s not that hard
The phrase that restriction incites creativity is true you know
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST VIOLATE COPYRIGHT
>YOU HAVE TO RESPECT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTYRINO
You contribute nothing.
