Every album changed music forever.

Music didnt start until thriller

Objectively Thriller

Le epic black guy worship we feel bad for le black people let’s pretend they have value

Cringe. How you gonna ask us a question and get buttmad when we give you our opinion. Fuck off faggot

Didn’t even give it a thought....

this, Thriller made Michael the most famous person on earth
huge impact on the music industry and culture

Holy cringe. Try harder next time.

Says the retard on some Yas Forums shit.
Michael is the best performer/musician and overall artist on the chart. Next would be Prince but he never peaked like Michael did. Bowie and Elton are great but their stars faded. Bowie is more known for his image more than his music and Elton is just doing vegas shows now. Michael and Prince pretty much stayed relevant up until their deaths and be remembered forever

>Michael
>better musician than Prince
jfc what a terrible take
He was arguably the better performer, but even so that's debatable. Prince's live shows in the 80s were peak performance, like huge disco nights with live instrumentation (Funky Party 2 Nite is a good example).
Also, Prince was definitely the more influential one, long term.
Out of those 4 albums, Thriller is the more important though.

Either way. Both Michael and Prince are leagues above Elton and Bowie. White people aren't ready to hear that

Stardust mogs anything by all three of them.

Oh yeah for sure. Bowie was good, but I wouldn't say Heroes is his most influential work.

Shut up you JoJo fag.
Diamonds are breakable. Michael broke Gold and Platinum.

Prince was on the same level of relevance as Bowie was when he died. And while Jackson was still relevant when he died a big part of that was because of his image as wack-o-Jack-o (we used to play Michael Jackson and Britney Spears tag in grade school in the 07-08 year) and the court cases. I do agree he was the most influential overall though.

bro...

Wrong. Michaels career never faulted from accusations. He was still releasing multiple albums and going on world tours. Had that been today he would have been canceled.
>(we used to play Michael Jackson and Britney Spears tag in grade school in the 07-08 year)
Sounds like some faggy white kid shit. Everyone I knew loved and supported Michael. Prince maybe but even then not really. He was just chilling. Bowie only become popular again because of his death

Micheal gay
Prince is based

>Sounds like some faggy white kid shit.
I was raised in the Bay Area, literally the most diverse county/on Earth. Jackson's older music was respected and he as a musician was but the man was considered a freak. Michael Jackson race jokes were the only race jokes everyone made around everyone.

And Bowie's last album (before Blackstar) charted higher than Prince's last four albums, all released in the same relative time period (I say last four because the final two were released exclusively on Tidal which undoubtedly had an effect on their perfomance)

Jackson definitely had the more commercial appeal out of all of them. Prince always had to balance between his black audience and his white audience. After Purple Rain and Sign The Times, which had a more rock sound, he felt he was alienating his black audience and returned to a more funk sound.
Bowie and Elton only appealed to white folk, naturally.

Has there ever really been a white rockstar with a sizable audience in both crowds?

>muh album sales
What's your point? Also, The Next Day was released after a 10 year interval, Prince was consistently releasing albums up until his death.

Album sales are the most objective way to measure relevance. Good job ignoring my point about Jackson the person being a laughing stock among all groups of people.

>Michael broke Gold and Platinum
In my early teens I had Thriller on tape. I remember looking at the cover and wondering if ANY woman in the world thought this was a desirable guy. Where I lived a guy was either, tough, smart, handsome, or some combination or he was garbage. This was before he started to get extremely weird.
Years later Bad was No 1 in my country (Australia). The only person I knew who owned the single got it for free as a promo giveaway. Found out that in a territory as small as Australia, buying your own product enough to qualify as a Gold record is cheaper than the advertising campaign to try to actually sell it to people. The gold record and No.1 chart position is better advertising than posters TV and billboards.
TLDR MJ just bought his fame and we mindlessly accepted it.

With his already massive wealth he just bought more fame in this way, pulling so far ahead of any competing talent that he probably destroyed a hundred other careers so he could transcend his age, race and gender after he ran out of stuff to buy. Money eats everything. There's Indian musicians you've never heard of who sell more than MJ and the Beatles combined, just not to rich Americans. Your whole view of quality is limited to the window of your own little rich person bubble and detached from wider reality. If 100,000 super-rich Arabs argued about which of them sold more albums to the others, you'd think their taste was shit and their view was psychologically narrow.

>Bay Area
California is the most shittiest place you could end up. Of course the normie bot head asses believed everything TMZ shit down their throats. The rest of the world didn't give a shit. He was the most celebrated and biggest celebrity at the time of his death.

An as for Bowie and Prince it just comes down to Prince being more protective and secretive during his later years. Now compare the actual music from the albums and you'll see prince was putting better music out. Who he remembers Bowies last albums besides Blackstar which again is only popular because of his death.

Commercial relevance, maybe. You can't use that to measure cultural relevance. Prince's sound is still very present in today's musical landscape. It never stopped being influential, to this day. I'm not refuting your point about Michael, he definitely got his reputation crushed after the skin color change and all the assorted scandals.

>source
>your ass
Shut the fuck up you dumb ass boomer. Im sure the only shit your country hick ass was listening to was garth brooks and ted nugent. How you gonna ask how Michael was desirable to anyone when Bowie looked like a straight up tranny.

The stereotype of us is the liberal freaks, the ghetto blacks and hispanics and the crazy middle eastern immigrants. Do get your presumptions right.

And Bowie's Blackstar is unironically better than anything Prince put out this century. Better than anything else Bowie put out this century as well. Blackstar was getting positive feedback before he died.

We all at least agree that Elton John isn't even part of the conversation.

Yeah Prince's output since the 2000's have been pretty mid. Musicology, N.E.W.S., 3121 and Lotusflow3r are all pretty good, but they are all very within his comfort zone. I'd put Originals more or less on pair with Blackstar though, some timeless tunes in that one.

>And Bowie's Blackstar is unironically better than anything Prince put out this century.
Yeah gonna have to disregard you completely now. Purple Rain alone is better than anything in Bowies discography, don't kid yourself faggot.

>Purple Rain alone is better than anything in Bowies discography,
...that doesn't dispute the point I was making user.

You sound mad.
My fave tape at that time was the Breakdance tape, played it til it broke. It was about the most you're thing freely available to the public and paved the way for techno later on. I've always liked atmospheric stuff.
As for Bowie looking like a tranny, yep, girls have always liked that. Ambiguous sexuality can drop panties. What they really can't stand is a guy who is definitely adult male but weak or soft looking. MJ tried to never grow up.

Based

You sound old

> Bowie's Blackstar is unironically better than anything Prince put out this century.
This is retarded user....

This century started on January 1st 2001 user.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21st_century Purple Rain (assuming we're both talking about this album/song) doesn't fall under that category.

Or better yet tell me what Prince put out that IS better than Blackstar. It appears I'm talking to two anons, one of you appears to be reasonable. I'll take your word seriously if the answer isn't "everything, Bowie was a hackfag" or along those lines.

Nope.
This album was recorded in 1983 but released in 2018. Its a masterpiece

*put out this century (January 1st, 2001 and on) that's better than Blackstar.

It should be obvious I'm talking about non-archival releases (and either way Prince didn't release that album, his camp did, Bowie's had good archival releases since his death as well).

yo

Yeah, influential to celebrity pedos

Dont try to change what you said faggot. You said put out. This album was released this century and is better than blackstar. Its a prince album. Cope more

Bowie was a hackfag and you can't into centuries.

I'd argue Originals has a strong enough thematic to consider it a proper album, but I agree that if you don't count it none of his 2000s stuff quite reaches Blackstar.

i am, we had a thread here where we found out there's people up to 75 posting. Turns out the really angry, opinionated ones are under 25 and low IQ, without exception. Who'd have thought?

Comparing Bowie and Prince is weird, they both came through people spitting on them and threatening to kill them. Bowie was white, good looking, educated while Prince was short, black and a basketballer 1.6m tall.
What they had in common was undeniable genius.

Prince opened for Bruce Springsteen once. He stayed on stage for the contractually obligated ten minutes, was pelted with paper beer cups, spit and coins. A letter to the promoter said "Us WASPs don't want to hear no nigger faggot music, I can sure bet your ass if we see it again ther'll be trouble."

Remember that when you see him posing around in flamboyant clothes, the guy had more talent than the writer of that letter's whole family, but could have been shot dead at any time by one of the fucken mongs. Bowie lived around people who would cut your face purely for being good looking.

Nobodies reading all that shit you reddit fag

Ignore this low IQ.
