first strokes album without a banger

more like the new abysmal

It's good.

bad except for adults are talking

dogshit

good but no great. 7/10

Ode To The Mets is my new favorite song.

better than comedown machine but that's not saying much

This is just a stupid take

Its ok, rather listen to Voidz.

it was so much better live. Specially when fab speeds up the drumming at the end. The studio version is unidimensional.

Shit

The Strokes are one of my probably top-3 most special bands to me in my lifetime, and I'm just happy to have them back really didn't know if it would ever happen. I'd give the album a strong 6 to a light 7 tran-sition.

The Adults are Talking, Brooklyn, Bad Decisions, all undeniably bangers

Try to be a little a little less retarded, don’t make people waste precious time stating the obvious

It's definitely the best thing I've heard from Rick Rubin in a while

Cringe and garbage, I was going to say ode to the Mets I could be into but then I heard the “drums please fab” and I’m just saying it’s all bad now. From the attempts at virtue signalling about body positivity to whatever the hell eternal summer was, this is the sound of being 40 and thinking you’re still hip but you’re just crusty. I had hope because I really liked Albert’s solo album. The voidz killed this band.

nice pitchfork opinion my dood
also "drums please" was a beautiful accident

Christ, you're a sensitive little faggot. One ad lib line ruins the whole song for you?

i don't even want to listen to it. their first two albums were great, everything after that i pretend never happened

>undeniably
Lol

i love it. eternal summer and not the same anymore are incredible songs.

yeah

Yas Forums is utterly irrelevant

Kinda crap on early listens. Julian trying to actually sing this time and failing miserably.

You mean

the Strokes are utterly irrelevant

Did you spend the day kissing ass on reddit? Just admit the album is trash.

personally I thought this is a 10/10
better than Is This It/Room On Fire (teenage/high school me loved those records)

this is the comfiest Strokes of all time

I loved it

great album, been listening to it non stop and i'm still not bored. a few strokes of genius and a couple of lows.
the adults are talking and eternal summer are standouts to me.
happy to have the strokes back with a good record, one of the few bands i hold close to my heart

jodas

what's the banger on comedown machine?

>The Adults are Talking, Brooklyn, Bad Decisions, all undeniably bangers
not even close. brooklyn in particular is complete shite. I don't mind the album, I think it's good but there's a lot of recency bias going on

It's fucking awful, it fucks up the structure and buildup just for a meme. Drums hitting after 'plans his attack' would've been great but no, once again Julian's a jackass.

50/50

You are a human walnut

gave it two listen and I'm done. this album is just bad, like really fucking bad lmao. definitely their worst album

>The Strokes are a pop rock band notable for successfully taking the indie/punk aesthetics of key early NYC punk bands and streamlining it in a way which the music industry was able to profit off significantly. While their first few albums had flares of respectable musicianship here and there, their new stuff is a monstrously offensive-- completely take away any subtlety of trying to be "punk", "indie", or "ABNORMAL" (WTF?), while churning out the poppiest rock possible.

On a Listened to/Expected/Got thread someone said that it’s like Keep It Like a Secret by Built to Spill
Is this true?
If it is I might listen to it

Room On Fire > Is This It? > The New Abnormal > First Impressions > Angles > Comedown Machine

It’s better

The New Abnormal > Room on Fire > Is This It > Angles > Comedown Machine > First Impressions

Unexpectedly beautiful and creative

Swap "Is this it?" and "Room On Fire"

I meant does it sound like BtS

I honestly don't get why is this it is considered their best, it's good but i've always liked the songs on ROF Better.

Lol no, i like The Strokes, But nothing they have put out has topped "Perfect From Now On" or "Keep It Like A Secret".

AOTYSF

Selfless is like a Beach House song, but better.

Parts of Eternal Summer are like a Tame Impala song, but better.

This just proves how good this record is and how talented and versatile these guys are. 9/10 album.

If u don’t like a record like this is because u hate yourself and life in general

It’s listenable... compared to their previous albums it’s dog shit... what up with Julian singing in a wack ass falsetto for half the album?
