Can I recommend this whole album? My favorite release of 2020 so far. I don’t speak slovakian so I don’t want to type it out. Good on you for helping make a playlist. I think the link should be in the general.

Yes, have added it

that makes him even more based

you had half the thread saying "SUNBATHER, WE NEED MORE SUNBATHER" and the other half saying "FUCK OFF WITH THAT GAY SHIT, IT'S NOT EVEN BLACK METAL"
a standard case of a fanbase ruining an album even further, but the people arguing against them were just as retarded
if you wanted to even be able to shitpost about actual metal other than sunbather, you were shit out of luck
kinda like now, but at least someone will probably give you a (you)

Good blackened death from 2018

I like sunbather t b h

Babymetal is gypsy-repellant

Forgot about this one. The chorus is pretty heavy.
I always forget that about the pink floyd-esque hard rock song on her debut album. I wish she did more songs like James and the Cold Gun. It's one of my all time favorites.

I'm a white monkey from south Brazil. My state's most famous export is Krisiun. I'm not equating popularity with quality, but these guys absolute deserve their fame. South American Death Metal is characterized by its absolute brutality, and Krisiun are worthy flagbearers of the style. Their debut is essential inclusion in any death metal collection.

Attached: Black Force Domain.jpg (554x554, 44.81K)

its not a bad album, it was just overhyped and overrated to shit, so it was over-hated to counter it
i like Roads To Judah more tho

I like it, feels very tortured and raw. Didn’t know any slovenian bands so pretty neat

Krisiun is really fucking good.

is this any good?

I've come to realize the defining characteristic of the heavy metal guitar riff is in a sense of dread, encapsulated by an ascending crescendo, note structure. The downtuned guitars and high volume / gain amps only supply this overall compositional element with its underlying flesh. They provide the content, but the form is essentially a crescendo.
Consider for instance the classic breakdown halfway through Raining Blood. The entire emphasis is on building up with rising note schemes. This creates suspense and dread, which lends metal its unique awe-inspiring sonic impact.

Solid as fuck riffing, great rec

Lethal is underrated imo

done

Why in metal are the role of snare drum and bass drums reversed? The double bass plays all the paradiddles or whatever and the snare keeps the beat, rather than the other way around. What is up with that?

To illustrate, compare this, how drums are used traditionally:

To this, where the bass drums are used like snares would be normally:

Does anyone have that "Harsh vocals" chart? I think it was used for entry-level stuff.

>Consider for instance the classic breakdown halfway through Raining Blood.

You mean after "your time slips away" and before "Raining bloooood!"? That part is descending, not ascending. Yes the individual 3 note phrase is ascending (like a standard arpeggio) but each one is lower in pitch than the previous, the root note is lower each time.

I think what makes metal heavy is just the distortion and palm muted percussiveness.

So was Cliff Burton, and probably lots others.

>Yes, I'm the AOTYSF, how can you tell?

Can anyone recommend some black/thrash black/trad that has more than just a demo or two and isn’t already well known like mortuary drape or goatwhore
