how can one man be so based?
He's the savior of rap
Based. He makes his style his own with no exposure to anyone else's, nor does he spend money on his rivals' shit. He also doesn't put on airs as to why he does what he does. Candy-ass rappers should take note of what a true villain reps.
Render unto Geedorah what is Geedorah's.
This is based as fuck.
>Rappers such as Joey Bada$$, Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, and Danny Brown have all cited MF DOOM’s unique approach to rhyming as major influences on their careers. In a recent interview with SPIN, however, the elusive MC claimed that he primarily sees hip-hop as a way to make income.
>“I write rhymes and shit to get money. Other than that I don’t listen to hip-hop music,” DOOM said. “I only do this for the simple fact of points-per-rhyme, the point game. It seems to be a profitable thing these days, and nobody else is really paying attention to it. You can be about your points, and if nobody else can do it, you can get some change off that joint, because you’re the only one doing it like that. That’s what I get out of the rhyming.”
>DOOM explained that he became good at rhyming through playing word games to keep his mind fresh. “You might be walking down the street, playing with words in your mind, so you throw them back and forth, and words that rhyme just come to you,” he said. “A practice to keep your mind sharp, is how we used to see it. But then it turned out to be something—if you put it to music, in a rhythmic way, and you know how to bring the point across, then you can turn it to something that’s real profitable.”
>And because DOOM sees rapping as more of a job, he kept it separate from his home life while working on 2004’s Madvillainy with producer Madlib. “I would go to work and do the work. I don’t really do music at home,” he said. “I listen to jazz music and instrumentals and shit like that.”
He is a literal villain and cannot keep getting away with it
100% based
But i feel like he could make more money if he made stupid trap and got on the charts
based, i hate rap but always found his shit more tolerable, now i know why
plebbitors on suicide watch after this, he literally shitted on every single faggot who unironically listens to "conscious hip hop"
Rap is pretty much the only genre where it’s considered cool to sell out and make as much money as possible.
absolutely fucking based
never even heard of this autistic retard until now but i'm gonna listen to him now
hyperbasado monetary man
/our guy/
Is he telling the truth? There's no way. How can someone so talented and skilled have absolutely zero (0) passion? Absolute villain
>greatest rapper ever doesn't even like rap
speaks volumes
correct and chect
tā lieta ka lielākā daļa reperi to tā dara, tikai bez kauna
thats pretty in character for mf doom lmao
I always knew MF DOOM was the most based of them all
take that dick outta ya mouth when you type on the internet boi
I now love this guy, but I don't listen to rap (like him!) so I won't see if he is exceptional.
based
Holy based
how villainous. very mean, but also very based.
I'm measuring a 7.8 on the :O scale
Impossibly based
It shows, he does the same bland thing in every song,
>oh whats that MF DOOM? you referenced something the 90s again? whoa cool
MF Doom primarily made music in the 90s and early 2000s
fuck off nerd
amazingly based
Its more common than you think and not just with hip hop, every genre.
still has to keep his dignity
That's with alot of genres though most people who are the best in their field usually find enjoyment and inspiration in other fields pretty common
kek
BASED VILLAIN
ITT
surprisingly common, a lot of country musicians dont listen to country music
Yes.
>make genre
>get famous in genre
>listen to contemporaries and purchase their releases, among other actions
>oops you sound just like them now
>fans realize there is a better producer of the sound you mimic
>you lose fame and become regular again
>every_goddamb_time.tiff
The money thing is to cement his status as a villain, but him not listening to anything in his own genre is the ideal way to go about.
I had a friend who had a band that was signed to Stones Throw tell me that Doom's brain is pretty much liquid at this point from all the booze. He hates making public appearances and doesn't even preform at his own shows sometimes. Although I've heard the before. This was back around 2014. Idk what kind of shape he's in.
based af
no wonder he makes some of the only good hip hop
he's a good rapper to listen to when intoxicated
>your favorite rapper's favorite rapper doesn't listen to rap
Fucking based.
I think I should listen to him.
dangerously based
also that article is one year old
Yeah he's probably a hiphophead now.
Demonstratably untrue. This is him roleplaying as the villain, not his true thoughts.
This.
He makes too many references to hip hop legends in his music and displays a clear love of the culture throughout his discography. This was a funny thing for him to say though.
madlib?
Im actually considering trying to make country for this very reason
>white people being right about something
Imagine my shock...
This really goes to show why his music is shit. It's all cheetos doritos and fritos, no significant meaning behind any of it. Has anyone ever had an intense emotional relationship with Madvillainy or Mm Food aside from "shiiiiiet this nibba can rhyme"
This will be Drake in 10 years. Let's b
Be honest, the current crop of entertainers doing rap see it more as money making scheme to sell to plebs than something theyd be comitted doing if there was no money in it.
HOLY FUCK BASED GOD
kek what a jew
Cope raptards. Most Rock, Jazz and electronic artists will keep on making music until they're dead or dropped from theuir record label, even if it doesn't make any money for them or they're already rich. Rappers become actors when they no longer see the money.
Uhh, hello based department?
Rapping isn't fun like making music or playing an instrument. Only time rapping is fun is in a cypher with friends or whatever, but most people can't actually freestyle so that barely ever happens.
