i agree, this album is easily one of the worst hip-hop releases of the mid 90's, it wasn't even good in comparison to other memphis artists, the only reason it's praised so much is because it sounds just like the mumble rap dogshit coming out today, which isn't any good either

Dan Johnston didn't make amazing music, but he made music that touched peoples hearts and souls very deeply. I think its unfair to say Hi How Are You is shit when its an album many people were introduced to his music through and contains some very beautiful songs with some of his finest lyrical work.

DJ sorta sounds like shit but its a shit sound that feels warm and comforting yet distant and haunting at the same time.
