ALBUM OF THE YEAR
It with mealbum of the year
not gay, but I cried a bit during the "HARD TO FIGHT WHAT I CAN'T SEE" part
it's so good
Album of the year.
And Ode is definitely SOTY
Eat your onions little piglets. Eat it.
heh, cute
total slog. no clue how anyone gets through Eternal Summer/At the Door/Why Are Sunday's So Depressing without clawing their eyes out
I donĀ“t get why RYM has been calling Eternal Summer the worst track though.
filtered
can't take Julian's alpha growls
bump for AOTY
but this isn't the black country new roads LP user
literally one of the best tracks, it's because it sounds borderline Voidz/ FIOE
two hours of the same old black metal
Yeah I'm thinking they're back
it's an incredible track
The Strokes discussing the album on an insta live I guess
wtf i thought this leaked already. we're still getting mail at my college radio station and I have an advance radio copy on my desk. haven't listened yet but this version might have any explicit words edited out. will head to the station now and see if the door is locked and upload it to mega.
this is exciting! i never get to deliver stuff like this! it's a 20min walk to the student center where our radio station is so hang tight.
Its not gay its because Julian has the greatest rock vocals since Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, I cry all the time because they are so good, At The Doors chorus gets me a lot of times most of the times I can hold it in but its just so soaring.
iconic. the leak thread doesn't bump anymore and is about to go, it should be closed with this
That was fucking good. Wow.
Liveeee
youtube.com
Maybe people can make questions idk
EVERYBODY "JULIAN SUCKS TIDDY" AT THE CHAT C'MON
At The Door doesn't fall short either. Incredibly based choice for the main single of this album when an upbeat song like Bad Decisions or even The Adults Are Talking could have been the first contact instead.
based, those leak threads were awesome and frustrating
So, we agree that Bad Decisions is SOTY, right?
user I...
Yup
Not even top5 in the album bro
funny way to spell At The Door
First this record now my favourite camgirl, who is always alone in her room, is being fucked by a black guy
Guys, best day ever!
It's been a pretty good week. Best episode of Better Call Saul dropped on monday, album of the year just dropped and I'm being paid for staying home.
Good one
AGREE. I could never imagine The Strokes could be this comfy
Half of this album is filler and you fucks know it. Sounds like a Voidz demo reel
shilling a shitty new strokes album. the absolute state of this board
>unironically try to listen to it 3,4 times. get a 5 hours sleep and then listen to it again.
I think this is the least accessible of all Strokes record. with that being said, it's pretty fcking good.
AMSP or any post-OKC radiohead LPs were also this inaccessible.
Listening to it again, I really do want to like this album. Eternal Summer and Selfless are growing on me. I still think to like this album you have to really, really like the sound of The Voidz.
i think its a good album on my first 2 listens.
and then I watched like 3 episodes of Tiger King,
listened to it again and I thought that this is best thing I ever listened to in the past 2 years
I believe that those who have loved Virtue have a (much) higher chance to fall in love with this album than those who look for another Is This It.
At The Door and the lack of fast paced songs (almost all of them are mid tempo save Brooklyn) prove that this album feels familiar without reusing the formula all over again but strange to those people who haven't kept track of Julian's side project.
Why Sundays and Eternal Summer have the most replay potential in here
>not listing Ode to the Mets
kinda cringe
I realize Bad Decisions is a shameless rip off of I Melt With You but it feels so good
They actually fucking did it
I never thought it would be this good
What's your favorite song on it user? For me it's Selfless
All these positive posts make me excited to listen to it. Waiting to get the lp tomorrow
Both Tyranny and Virtue are really different record
I think if you listen to the album after you just waking up, it'll be easier to appreciate the record because your mind/brain is not expecting what it's going to sound like, and that'll really expose both the flavor and the direction of the record.
I think the musical narrative is different in comparison to Comedown Machine, Voidz's Tyranny and Virtue. to look for similarity spoiled the album bcs I found a lot of new ways here, more new stuff
One of Julian fav musical inspiration (for The Strokes) is Pearl Jam's song, Yellow Ledbetter,
I think The New Abnormal is reflecting that tone surpassing his previous evolution in CM/V's T & V.
bad decisions is like, the worst track in the whole album. Not bad, just the worst out of the album.
you're saying that as if it's a bad thing
selfless has some of Julian's best vocals to date. It's also so fucking good
All of you motherfuckers go listen to Angles now that you're hyped up and reevaluate your opinions of that album. It's one of their best
this
Eternal Summer seems to be one of the Strokes' favorites from their podcast. They also said that's where Rick's influence was most prominent
I have it third or fourth now. ITI>>>TNA>RoF/Angles>FIOE>>>>>>>CM
CM is soulless, the rest are pretty close together
bros is that wub-wub synth sound on why are sundays so depressing a wilco sample?
except for the tracks Games and Life is Simple in A Moonlight, the 2nd half of that album is weaker than the first. There are like 3 or 4 tracks on that album that don't work at all (You are So Right and Metabolism particularly)
If someone has to find some jewels, is in Comedown Machine. Songs like Tap Out,Slow Animals or Chances (espscially this one) do deserve another listen.
>tfw this is actually good
I'm not a fan of First Impressions
Room > Angles > TNA > ITI > Comedown > > FIOE
Taken for a Fool tho
that one is included in the first half (5th track)
>ITI that low
nigga what
Of course it's great but I listen to the other albums more
I like 5 from there, yea it's pretty solid. but I like more tracks from FIOE and Comedown, and Ize is one of my favorite tracks from the Strokes
ITI is iconic but doesn't hold much emotion for me, RoF is just soulless
This new album looks about the top 3 in the discog for me
