Metal and punk are intrinsically related. Nearly all metal post 70s is influenced by punk in some shape or manner. D-beats are extremely common in grind and crust both of which have been absorbed into metal sub-genres such as death and thrash.

D-beat + distorted aggressive riffing = good idea.
