Young Korean people tend to have a weird relationship with kpop. Ive noticed that oftentimes when i mention kpop to them they know little to nothing about it. Instead theyll start talking to me about Western Rock and Pop.
At he same time the same people follow the general culture surrounding kpop. They follow idol make up trends, fashion etc. but theyre not really into any groups.
Maybe 20-30% of Korean people aged 20-30 are REALLY into kpop. The majority isnt but as i said above they do somehow follow the contemporary culture surrounding kpop.
Just like people on this board obsess with kpop and kgirls, many young koreans try to escape their domestic music and search for the exotic. Theyre white fever makes them look at kpop and korean culture as being boring or outdated.
