The Big Bang of Hardcore Punk youtu.be
Action Patrol is pretty cool
thoughts on the middle class?
youtube.com
What do you consider the quintessential punk bands?
wrong by nomeansno is a good album and i enjoy it and fuck cops
based
One of the first bands from LA. Total classic
Depends on what era or style you want. They all sound pretty different
80s and 90s.
My In/Humanity brotha!! Gotta say that might be my favorite release of theirs
Heres some dope live footage
One from the 80s has to be Siege
youtube.com
they rule. if it weren't for them, maybe grind wouldn't even exist
80’s imo:
Husker Du
Replacements
Articles of Faith
Bad Brains
Descendants
Black Flag
Meat Puppets
Minutemen
Screeching Weasel
Minor Threat
Rites of Spring
Discharge
Rudimentary Peni
Hated
Gang Green
Negative Approach
Negative Trend
Theres tons more
90’s
Admiral
J Church
Los Crudos
Born Against
Cap’n Jazz
Friction
In/humanity
Honeywell
Evergreen
Nuzzle
Fuel
Current
Probably green day or offspring too
Those are at least some of my favorites. Im missing a lot so they are by no means quintessential, but very good with good outputs
Siege learned to play that fast by listening to the highway to hell record on a faster speed
youtube.com
I thought it was just real fast D-beats
I think it was that too. They must have been listening to discharge like no other. Venom too
youtube.com
say what you want but this one's just fucking fun
Negative XP is the only punk band
This works out since I don't like 70s Punk.

Doesn't punk have its roots in surf rock?
Man do i love some japanese hardcore. Nice picks
Very much so. Surf rock bands used lots of distortion and 3 or 4 chord structures. The Ramones loved surf rock. Punk also has roots in blues rock from UK like the Kinks and Them as well as American groups like the Doors and MC5
Bad Brains buncha fucking simple minded religious buttfucks. Fucked over the Big Boys and The Dicks.
Also a sign of guaranteed quality is if the band begins with Dis and/or the logo copies Discharge.

FIRST FOR WEST COAST POWERVIOLENCE
LETS FUCKING GO
Biggest beef in punk. Next to all of the Dead Kennedys and Jello
bummed I won't get to see NA again soon and I'm missing Bandit (PA) a second time

Low threat profile were one of my favourites

I'll never get this retarded "hardcore dancing".
it is just for fun you don't need to understand. It is fun to go retarded and flail around but if it's not for you then it's not for you. youtu.be

well, this clearly isn't the swedish band
How do I make punk friends if there is no scene where I live and I hate social media?
Should I just make an Instagram and see where it takes me?
How do I stop listening to Hardcore and Melodic Hardcore and other music punk elitists will make fun of me for
Instagram is a great way to follow bands or pages actually. Very streamlined
I dunno, maybe try listening to some of the influences of your favorite bands, depends on what sub genres you want to get into
I like stuff like this:

Though I've really been getting in to older punk acts lately. I just love a good rhythm section.
Punk and Post-Rock I'm enjoying a lot lately
Cool stuff. You might enjoy some other post hardcore stuff like Code Orange Kids or Turnstile.
If you are looking for other areas I would maybe try 90’s past hardcore/emocore
Here’s a few bands:

m.youtube.com
Oh hell yes. Love me some Code Orange Kids/Turnstile.
Thanks fore the recs man. I'm gonna dive in.
Good shit! If you end up liking what you hear check out the blog sophiesfloorboard. They have everything there
Oh I'm a patron of Sophiesfloorboard. I got a lot of good DLs there.
The day i found that blog I was hooked. There are a few other sweet blogs but none of them cover the ground sophiesfloorboard has
Sophies is kino desu. They've got all the obscure shitty midwest emo bands I listen to as well as some older picks. Idc where they get them all but I'm a fan
It’s a beautiful website. The very first band I found on there was Indian Summer.
Science 1994?
anything in black?
youtube.com
GOD THIS SHIT IS SO FUCKING HARD
FUcKING BASED
Yeah. They only released like 8 or 9 songs ever. Their live album is great too albeit not the best quality.
Fucking amazing album
Stellar band. They only existed for a single year. Did you pick up a copy of the compilation that just came out a few months back? I think it was called Giving Birth to Thunder
Saw it dropped on Pitchfork
But no, I should
It’s the same songs as Science 1994 plus an unreleased one. Pretty good looking vinyl from the people who put out the new Duster and Unwound releases. Thought about picking one up myself since they did such a good job with Duster but I have a few of the original Indian Summer releases so might just stick with those
PUNK
REVOLUTION
Call me a poser, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was my first exposure to punk.
